You wouldn't guess it was mostly made of wood. The entire fuse, from the back of the cockpit to the rear, and the outer wings are all wood believe it or not.

I am not surprised really, I went to the Smitsonian shop (Paul Garber Restauration Facility) when they were refurbishing a Hurricane (many years back), and that plane had some outstanding woodwork being done by an old brit that knew what he was doing:-) The Mosquito bomber was made mostly out of wood also. The same guy was also working on wood parts for a F190 at the time. If memory serves me well they were part of the tail section. This was many years back...

Gerry
Love the woodwork! The Jenny is in Seattle's museum, the other bird, my favorite, is there also:-)

Very few parts of the Fw 190 were made of wood, and the ones that were were done due to the shortage in metal and metal stamping facilities. Mostly they were the backings of hatches, flaps and some parts of the stab on Fw 190 D models and some Ta-152s

Not all the Fw 190 props were made of wood.

They were not really fitted until the A8. Only the VDM 9-112176A blades were wood. The VDM 9-12067A and the VDM 9-12153A blades were used quite a bit and were metal.

Of course the later Doras (the 11, 12 and 13's) were using the VS 9 or 10 propeller unit fitted with the 9-27012 C-1 wooden blades.

Hello Rumen

Almost every weekend having a flight with my Pitts and working to teach my pupils.Calin and Vio jr. a 10year old boy, with good flying skills.

Had finished the Dora and two weekend ago, had the maiden.
On the P-47, applied the Mediun Sea Grey as a base solour and this week completed with the Ocean Grey.

Putting togeter the docs for another scratch ( probably asociated with Mugurel ) FW 190 A-8.

Success on Your curent projects!

Your's
JIMMY

Not a big fan of the Airworld kits. You are paying a lot of money for something that isn't very scale. That being said, if you can look past the scale issues, they are fine looking aircraft...

Fokke, my favorite would probably be a close run between the MiG-3 and the Fw 190 D9 or D13. I really like both of them a lot and have spend untold hours researching them.

I also like the rest of the Fw 190 line, the Fw 189, the Bf 109E and F, Bf-110, the Yak-3, the La-5, the A-24 Banshee, the A-36 Apache and the Stuka.

If thats a SISt kit, I take all that back, because the SISt is a Fw 190A8 and he would have done a TON of work to get it to the A2/A3 its currently painted as.

Note the bulb like areial fitting onthe top of the fin. Only the A-0 thru early A-3's had that (late model A-3's and the A-4's moved to the mast located at the center of the top of the fin). The antenna is definiately the areial used on the A2/A3.

The plane shown can't be a real A2 because it doesn't have cooling slots, it has the cooling vents found only on the A5 and above. It also has the larger radio hatch of the A5 and above.

The seat headrest does look like A2/A3 though.

I'm almost positive its an Airworld kit, mostly due to the grey retracts and the fact I'm almost positive I saw this at Top Gun 2008 right arcross from the tent I was in.

I think you are right, it is an Airworld kit, no kidding expesive, plus add the cost of retracts, and a Moki radial... This Fri-Sat-Sun we have the Warbirds Over Quakertown (PA) meet, the best day is Saturday, but I will not be able to go. Maybe I make a run tomorrow...
This pictures are from last year... The FW did win at Top Gun, the Fokker is 1/3 scale, beautiful airplane...

Yeah thats Dino (from Meister Scale) at Top Gun 2007 where he won Pro-Am with the one he got from Airworld.

The AirWorld folks were flying the same plane at TopGun 2008 (not sure how they did this year), but of course Dino took top place at Pro-Am in 2008 again with his awesome Platnium Bf 109 (which he is now kitting again).

Wow love the Storch. Any info on it?

And damn! That Fokker is excellent! Is that from a BUSA kit? Or a GTM kit? Love the paint job they did with it.

I have more pictures but no info on the Storch. It was pretty nice allrigt! Every time I go to the Fantasy of Flight museum I take pictures of Kermit's Storch. It is a real challenge for the modeller to recreate that airplane!

The Fokker was 1/3 scale, BUSA does not have one that scale. It was not Glenn's kit either. Built from plans. He even manufactures his own muffler (it had a very nice sound). A real beauty...
