Life just keeps bringing change....sigh... I have been away from r/c for a half dozen years or so and I am so stunned at the changes in the landscape....Greats like Doss Steed, no longer with us, everyone buying ARFs(Gag!), RCM magazine and others just GONE...!!!! dang.... Well I'm back and hope to make the best of an r/c world where everyone wants "ready made" I have been following the fate of whats available and I was/am hoping to get Doss' plans to build his P-51. Can you tell me more about what items may be out there? Retracts, scoops so on? Also are you able to confirm for me that the Doss Steed P-51 design has a 92" wing-span. I thought it was larger, yet Bob H. says the plans he has are 92"
Thanks in advance....Carl

No thanks are necessary, all the modelers I know are fantastic people, eager to help each other do what we all love to do. Doss Steed was a perfect example of that, from all I've read about him over the years. Not to mention his awsome talents. Indeed never forgotten. Also I thank you for comfirming the wing span for me, I'll be placing the order with Bob Holman first thing tomorrow morning.

Hi Russell
I did get the plans for Doss Steed's P-51 from BH plans, this past summer. I have begun the process of cutting a building kit and jigs in anticipation of having her all planked up by next summer(fingers crossed). If you have any contact information for the folks who may be working on parts for this model I'd really appreciate it or any updates you may have.
Kind Regards
Carl

Nice!, what else do you have?, do you have the complete set of plans?, for the wood parts I don't have a problem I can cut them with my Laser my issue is if I can get more parts in order to build one, if I can't get them I will reduce the size in order to match maybe the Giant P-51 in order to get retracts and canopy, maybe someone have the name of the person that got all parts?

I bought the complete plans, fiberglass fuselage, machined wheels and spinner from Doss in the fall of 05. I was not able to complete the model in any kind of realistic timeframe so I sold it to a gentleman in the California Central Valley in the summer of '06. He said he was going to build it but have not heard from him since. Very interesting talking to Doss about these and other plans he had...

It has been a while since these posts. Wondering if you've heard more about the Doss Steed parts progress?
Thanks Carl

I knew Doss personally and it hurt me when he died worse that when my father died. I had one of his Mustangs and loved it. I have never met anyone in rc that paid that much attention to detail. The last time i was taking him to lunch he was all about a Wildcat and the problems with the retract system. I was out of the country when i heard he passed and did not make back in time for the services we had some wild times and i miss him. He had an apprentice and Doss left everything to him

I have the original set of the 102" P-51 plus extras and a special note from Doss signed.....
I would really like for them to go to a good home......
I am not able to attach photos at this time....
