RE: New Hangar 9 B-25
HI:
Nothing happened, they said it was (2) years or more older and the could do nothing for me, so i opened it up the best i could without makeing a mess of it and repaired it.
I have had it in the air (4) more times and it looks as if it's ok.
Oh yes my Saito 56's work great, i use 12x6 props but would like to use 11x7 3 blades some day

RE: New Hangar 9 B-25
Dear Charles.
I have been flying my hangar 9 b25 now 18 months only on 2 os 40fx two strokes off a grass strip which is very rough and bumpy and i does not seem under powered with these engines also i have not noticed any problems with the wing structure you mentioned in your email how old was your aircraft when you first saw this problem.
Best Regards. Ray

Ray:
Well i got it back in 2007 when the first came out, it took them 4 months to get one to me.[>:]
It was put togather for me for the first flight on Veteran's day of last year.
It has only 8 or so flight's on it as i don't take it out much.
I maid a wing rack for it with a top so i can work on it at the field.
Anyway i have it fixed as of now and i will be going to Japan this year for 24month's or more so it's packed away for the trip.
I'll get it back in the air over their.
Have a great week in the U.K.

P.S i forgot, check out our club's new web sight, if anyone is in So. Calif. come on down http://www.hiway41flyers.org we would love to see you

Dear Bkrffrmhell
The hatch works on simple slide once you close the hatch you just put a piece of balsa in the gap to wedge it shut and to stop it coming open.If you can send me a picture and show me what you mean
Regards Ray.

So the bolt stays tight on the shaft and slids back and forth against the spring through a slot in the fuse wood. My fuse only has a hole, so i guess I need to slot it

RE: New Hangar 9 B-25
hello,
to any of the guys who are flying this plane on electric 46's what kind of amps and watts are you pulling ?
im running 2 exceed monster power 46's with 12x8 3 blade MA's (about the same as 13x8 2 blades power wise) and am getting about 53 amps and 740 watts per side and am just curious what your getting with the e-flight motors and how it flies ?
ive had this plane for a long time and have yet to fly it (health issues) so this spring it will be maidened right away along with my hellcat.
also if anyone has video of there electric versions flying and can post it, it would be greatly appreciated.
thanks.

My setup:
E-Flite Power 46's
E-Flite Pro 60 amp esc's
Rhino 5s 4900 20c
MAS 12x6x3 (one puller one pusher)
On the bench I was getting 54 amps and 1080 watts per side.
Hope this helps.

RE: New Hangar 9 B-25
Okay folks.....need some prop help here.
I have two new Saito 56's I am going to use on my B-25. I found some really nice (and good looking) Graupner, 3 blade 11x7 props. I REALLY want to use these. The product support rep at Horizon said this should be okay (little on strong side but okay) to use. Any input? He wasn't real convincing. I don't want to use too much prop and have it hard on the engine. The manual has a 12x7 as the largest diamater and highest pitch for 2 blade recommendation. Thanks for the help all!!!

RE: New Hangar 9 B-25
I'd start with the 10x7's.
I tried a few different props on mine before settling on APC 11x4 two bladers (Evolution .36 engines). Overall performance was perfect, am going the same setup on my next one.

RE: New Hangar 9 B-25
Thanks CRG...I was afraid I'd hear that. Really want the 11x7's, but don't want it to be too much. I assume you feel that is too much for the motor?
...I also was originally going with the evolution .36 and had the 11x4's. I've read this is a really good set up. Thanks for the response.

RE: New Hangar 9 B-25
I'm really not sure if the 11x7's would be too much. I've got many Saito's but have never run a .56. I run 13x6 two bladers on my .62 (not much help I know).
The three bladers on my B-25 looked great on the ground, was the flight performance wasn't worth it. I painted the two bladers black and you can't tell the difference in flight, and the performance is much more comfortable.

bigguy,
thanks for the reply. i think i have somthing wrong with my watt meter as its been reading much lower than what others have gotten on the same motor, esc combos.
i also forgot that my batteries were not fully charged when i ran it up for the tests. i now have my new packs here and once i charge and test them i will redo my amp/watt readings and see what i come up with. (also see if i can borrow a different watt meter)
as for the power from the exceed motors it is great when i ran them i really had to hold onto the plane and my daughter yelled at me because of the wind coming off the props . i have no doubt theyl fly the plane well.

RE: New Hangar 9 B-25
Me again gentleman,
I realized I don't have my prop hubs yet. I'm using 4 stroke Saito 56's so I'll need to use the double nut system. I have concluded the screw on type therefore will not work and I'll have to use the type that are hollow with a backplate. Question is, to keep this as scale looking as possible, what size prob hub should I be looking for. Plan on using Tru Turn unless there is a better option. Thanks.

RE: New Hangar 9 B-25
3/4-inch are what I have, and they look about right. TruTurn doesn't make a hub that small that will take a double jam nut internally. Their 3/4-inch prop nut to suit the .56 is part TTN-0750-A-710.

RE: New Hangar 9 B-25
Thanks again CRG,
I'm just curious though, won't this look a little odd having the first nut on the crankshaft, and then having this screwed on behind it. Just seems like it would be a little odd?

RE: New Hangar 9 B-25
I wouldn't use the nut, just the TT spinner nut as you would on a two-stroke. Not that I would recommend that to others, but it's what I would do. Todays four strokes are very well behaved.

RE: New Hangar 9 B-25
Looks good enough for me. I can tack a Picture and post it if you would like.
Also, I used a different exhaust system to try to make it more scale looking. Turned out pretty good. I can put up some pix of those also if you would like.
Let me know,
Ken

If you don't mind, I would love to see some pics of both. If the site won't let you post (I hear it can be finicky) feel free to send them to [email protected]. Thanks Ken!
