Here's a link to what I did, go to post 354. I tried a bunch of different materials on mine, and found regular 1/4" K&S music wire from the LHS to be the best. The nose strut is a little different as it's not a pin, but the strut machined down. Took a little effort to cut it out and replace with music wire, but so much better now

Pull Up
I think you'll find you have to keep some power on in the final approach with full flaps all the way down. The stall is gentle but you can see it sink fast if your behind it so be quick to add power if that's the case.
I had one bad landing the second time I tried the flaps because I couldn't read the stall coming on soon enough. Coupled with a TH servo issue not yet diagnosed I was reluctant to add power for fear of cartwheeling it in. So the best choice was to let it sink and keep it level.
Flies awesome though, crowd pleaser for sure

YA P-38 Gear Problem
Guys,
Been awhile, hope everyone is doing OK. Noticed that the pressed fitting ring for my YA right main gear 'knee' pin has disappeared. Anybody know what its called and how I could replace it? Attached are pics of the pin with the missing ring and one from a spare with the ring.
retaining ring missing in this shot.
this is the spare with the ring.
giving her some air last week...static display at the flying field.

The clips mentioned will work, I think they are metric. I actually put brass tubes and 4-40 hardware in mine. Makes it easy adjust to keep the joints tight, but not tight enough to bind. If you go clips you'll need to add washers between the clip and the scissor, or you'll be able to rotate the strut back and forth due to excessive clearances. As you fly it a bunch, they continue to loosen up. I've squeezed the scissor so it fits tight ( but not too tight), then shimmed the outside between clip and scissor. I've shimmed the gap, and eventually found hardware is the way to go. Keeps the struts nice and tight without binding
You don't even notice the mains, I left the nose stock as it's so visible
Just wanted to add my home field is pretty rough, and hard on the gear
