Differences between Gold Edition Corsairs?

Hello. I recently purchased a Gold Edition .60 size Corsair. I have yet to receive the kit, but I was wondering if I got the updated version (right thrust/accepts cockpit kit) or not. The box art on mine is a shot of the model with flaps and gear down, with the big static 4 bladed prop on it. Other boxes I see have an in-flight shot. I think it might be the original, but I want to be sure before I spend $33 for the kit to update it. Do I really need that anyway? Advice and suggestions would be helpful. Thanks!

From what I can tell, the original Gold Edition came out in 1991. The latest revision of the manual (v3.0) is copyrighted 2002. Check the lower right corner of the title page for version. My box also has the static four blade picture previously mentioned. l'm pretty sure its the original because I got it in early '90s and there is no v#.0 in the corner. It doesn't even list the TF website address.
From looking at the two versions of the manual, they have:
1) made a minor change to the cockpit deck parts to allow easier installation of the optional cockpit kit,
2) changed the engine installation to show a 45 degree option and some differences in the 2 deg. right thrust procedure,
3) the new version includes a Great Planes 60/120 motor mount, and
4) revised the manual with improved pictures and replaced hand written notes with text.
That's about it.

you might check the www.topflight.com site for updates/revisions you can download as well as the full manual if you wanted the newer one.
the updates are usually a grammer corection but sometimes there is a corrected step in building process, usually there submitted by a builder who noticed the discrepency.
the early kit was the Red Box version.

If I remember correctly, the original part number for the Top Flite Corsair was TOPA0100, the updated kit is TOPA0101. I have a new kit and it is TOPA0101. You can find this number on the end of the box. Hope this helps.
Cheers!
