Kyosho Zero

My Feedback: (24)
I have one. Although I haven't flown it yet, I have nothing bad to say about it. The plane is gorgeous, and the fiberglass fuselage is very nice and the overall quality is excellent. I have the YS FZ63 four stroke in the nose. I had the battery pack under the fuel tank initially, but it turned out too nose heavy, so I moved the battery pack back behind the servo tray to balance the plane. No additional lead was added. I replaced the stock fuel tank with a 12 oz unit. I'm also using Great Planes mechanical retracts.

Thanks for the feedback on the Zero and I see that a larger engine will fit. Does anyone know if a OS 70 4 stroke will fit?

The OS 70 will fit, but the valve cover will stick out quite a bit. Plus, it's about 111-mm long from the front of the drive washer to the rear of the carb. Add another 11-mm for the supplied nylon motor mounts and you have 122-mm from the firewall to the front of the drive washer. As a result, you will have a fairly large unsightly gap between the front of the cowl and the back of the drive washer.
I took mine up for its maiden flight today, and it flew pretty good. It required two right clicks on the ailerons and a fair amount of down elevator trim to fly level. It's still too early to tell if it's a better flyer than my VQ Zero.

Hi
Im glad you had a good maiden flight and the feed back you left.
Just one more ? did you use the same fuel tank that came with the Zero and how long is the flight time with the bigger engine?
Thanks Herbert

I had five flights yesterday and two flights today in strong gusty wind. The Kyosho Zero turned out to be a sweet flyer and an easy lander. I was able to land this bird perfectly on relatively tall grass each time. The Great Planes mechanical retracts performed flawlessly and didn't pose any problems (got to have retracts on warbirds). I have uploaded two pictures to my Image Gallery. Just click on the "gallery" button directly below to view them. Here is a shot of this beautiful plane on a slow fly-by in 30+ mph wind before the storm:
