F-6F Hellcat

Dan: The F6F Hellcat is a great airplane to model but unfortunately you don't have an abundance of kits out there to choose from. Heritage R/C has recently changed ownership and the new owner is moving the business down to Arizona and I believe it is scheduled to open under the new owner this month. They offer a very nice Hellcat that has about a 57 in wingspan and can fly on a .46/.61 engine. It is a very well done kit and definetely worth checking out. They also have several other very nice Warbirds one of them a 75" TBM that I have on my list. I have a website in my computer somewhere that will let you view the kit line and I'll dig it up and post it as soon as I find it. About the only other choices would be found in the Swap/sale shop. Once in awhile you see a Wing Manufacturing kit which is also very nice and a Jemco Hellcat. The Jemco kit has been out of production for many years but they were great kits. Hope this helps.

Little known fact: Marutaka, used to be known in the US as Royal, makes a 60 sized Hellcat. I don't recall Royal every carrying this model but Marutaka does. Available through Hobby Barn in Arizona. www.hobbybarn.com

I have the Jemco Hellcat kit. I would be glad to make a copy of the instruction book and mail it to you. Just give me your mailing address, and I will get it in the mail early next week. Chris

Wing Mfg. has an F6F Hellcat which I am currently building. Check out their website. They are back in business
with a full line of kits. Also, Quantum Models is selling their Hellcat for around $290. I got mine a few months
ago from Quantum and they were selling them for $208. The kit is nice with good quality wood and hardware.
The wings and tail sections are foam with a built up fuse.

I just saw in Model Airplane News an advertisement by Giant Scale Planes for an ARF 70" Hellcat, designed to fly on a .90 two stroke or a 120 four stroke. It looked like a pretty nice ARF if you need a quick fix.
