Default Move over Spitfires, My Martin Baker 5 has arrived!!!

Hi all,
Thought you would like pics of my scratch built MB 5 in 1/5 th. scale. I have 28 pics. detailing the special features which I will post later tonight. Just to give you an idea of the size, the fuse is 96 in. long., that's 8 ft.!!!!! Enjoy. These plans were blown up from Dan Parsons 60 size fighter. Blown up 157% almost exactly 1/5 th scale. This size was perfect for off the shelf accessories.
Specs: 86 in. span with over 1600 sq. in., rudder is 20 1/2 in. high, stab span is 40 in., wheels are 6 in., spinner is 5 1/2 in.
weighs 36 lbs. with all hardware, minus the paint. The scale static spinner is made from foam and turned on my drill press, static blades are individually hand made.

How do you guys fit these planes into your cars? I have trouble getting my.40 sized Sukhoi into my car and have been thinking 1/2 a might be the answer.

The someone like check6 comes up with a Stunner like this......

In one word extremelyincrediblybeautiful!!

PS. You obviously don't know what a Chevy goes for in South Africa!!! Much cheaper to just buy the whole suburb I live in, demolish all the houses and build my own asphalt airfield.....

Powerplant for the MB5 with muffler. This is a ZDZ 80, custom made header, Cannister muffler. This muffler is 13 in. long and 3 1/2 in. in diameter. Completely enclosed in the fuse. Sound level should be very low 84 DB.

Fred:
Magnificent!!!
Did you blow up Dan Parson's plans?
Isn't the wing about as long as the fuselage.

2 Hi Brian, Yes these are Dan Parsons plans blown up 157%.
This is a shot of the retractable tail wheel. The elevator servo is mounted in this area just ahead of the retract. Only have a 6 in. pushrod, nice and tight with all 4/40 hardware

3 Bottom of the nose , where the muffler is mounted. There are numerous access hatches both top and bottom to provide easy maintenance and inspection.

Hi Rudy,
Good hearing from you. Thanks for the compliment. There was only one scheme for this plane. Identification yellow underneath, Dark sea grey and dark green on top, with the typical roundels, with the exception of a large "P" on the side for prototype.

This is the operation radiator door in the open position. I will have this connected with the retract servo. When the plane is sitting idleling with the gear down, the door will be open to help cool the engine and muffler. When the gear is retracted the door will close.

82 Retracts and doors. This is the exact scale position. It took a lot of trial and fitting to get the right angles. It was worth the work.
