I did not have a lot of luck finding the bombs that I wanted.. I'm planning on M117 @ 1/10 scale..
They will end up being 8-1/4 inches long by about 1-1/2 inches (slightly thicker) in diameter..
My solution to keep trying to find the ones I wanted is to make a master and cast the bombs in Alumilite 610 foam.. I'm not there yet, still working on the master bomb.. I'm going with the "shoerter" fin set used on the 117's, not the fins shown in the attached picture.. The current plan is to make plastic/styrene fins and cast them into the foam mold.. I'll find out if it works![Smile](https://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I have seen others turn their ordinance out of foam and do a great job putting the parts together. Ram-bro has seen Barry's Skyraider thread on the scalemodelbuilders site.. That's another option..

Speedaholic - Oh Shoot.. I just saw where you are located [laughing].. This is Tom Berg from the Madera Club.. I fly at the Fresno Club with the helicopter events and other times during the year..
I'm the guy who has made skydives and landed at the jet rally and helicopter events..
Drop me a note via e-mail at: [email protected] I'd love to see the KMP Skyraider and if my plan on the bombs works maybe we can squeeze out some more for you..

I'm painting eggs for bombs on my 1/4 scale Corsair. If they are rotten thats even better. It will give the effect of an explosion and if you don't like someone in your club, Bombs Away!!!![Big Grin](https://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

I hope this isn't a hijack of the thread, but I have a questin about "scale" bombs..
I'm working on making some M117 bombs at 1/10 scale.. Based on a chart from the internet search I came up with the following:
M117, general purpose 750 lb bomb. The stats here are metric, but that's fine for this question. Length 2.16 meters, diameter 408mm, weight 340kg..
That's about right to think it's a little longer than two meters and weighs 750 lbs.. OK..
Now, I'm making the mock up bomb at 1/10 scale so it's 21.6 centimeters long and 4.1 centimeters in diameter...
Now, HOW THE HECK would this thing ever weigh 75 poounds????
I know that the actual bomb is based on tritonal explosive.. But, I must be missing something here.. I cant think of anything that would make a "scale" bomb weigh that much...
Just thinking out loud here.. Any ideas you engineering types???

that is so true, not even solid lead would do it, we must be missing something here in the scale down somewhere. but if your plane only wieghts 10lbs at 1/10th scale that means the real one weighted 100lbs, pretty light skyraider!!!! just food for thought..

you guys are thinking linear, mass is volumetric, as in lbs./in^3
the cubic root to 750 is a bit under 9.1 lbs
Does anyone have a scale drawing of a MK82?

Check this link and then click on the picture of the Mk 82 to the right...

Thanks Raven..
I was driving back from Monterey and figured I messed up by not remembering at volume changed as the square of the radius.. Therefore, volume is changing exponentially..
Now, I'm wondering if you would be "scale" with the cube root of the volume as you referenced.. Or, is just the square root??? Because volume is based on Pi(R-squared)H...
Of course, either way, I'm not hanging a 9-pound bomb on the plane
