Fuel Tank Installation on Top Flite AT-6?
I am finishing a TF AT-6 built exactly per the plans, with an RCV-90SP on the nose.
The plans show a Great Planes 12 oz fuel tank in front of the servo tray, partially protruding back below the servos. This protrusion is necessary because the tank won't fit in front of the tray (neither will a Sullivan), but I'm wondering how to secure it in that position.
The answer is probably pretty simple, but I'm really scratching my head, so any help from folks who have built this kit will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Juan M. Villaveces

more pix. Note the stand offs for the fuel tank to rest on. I left one of the servos on on this picture to see that fuel tank does not interfere with servos.

Foxx,
Thanks for the great help! As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words, and your pics really convey how you did it. Let me ask you another question: How did you secure that neat assembly? It looks like you secured the back of it to the servo tray; what about the front and bottom, which do not show as clearly in the photos?
While we are at it, maybe you can help me with some ideas regarding camouflaging the operating bits of the plane. I hid the retract fill valve in the air intake, but I'm still wrestling with the switch and the fuel filler (I'm putting in a Jtec fuel dot). The fuel filler could go into the oil cooler intake, with a lot of effort, but the switch has me stumped, so I am thinking of making the hatch below the rear canopy functional and putting them both there. How did you deal with this?
Again, thanks a lot!

Jaun,
All the switches and air fill are in a hatch over the letter TA-143. The full scale has hatch just left of insignia. I was not planning to make this plane too scale but ideas started purring in after I was half way into construction. I use a Robart fueler as you can see it in picture 2. As for securing the front of the fuel tank the secret is the front lip of the tank that goes into the horse shoe . I will post more detail pics tomorrow.

Hey Condor, Foxx has a great setup on his. However, if you see that his setup wont work for you , I used a Graupner 14 oz 4 stroke tank for my T6. It is a lot shorter than the standard type tanks. You can get them from Hobby Lobby in Tennessee. Best of luck!! John

Foxx, thanks for all the pictures and suggestions. Your T-6 looks incredible, I hope I can approximate that level of craftsmanship on mine -- this is my first attempt at scale, but so far I'm very pleased with the results. I will probably do mine in a Marines color scheme.
John, thanks for the tip on the Graupner tank, I will check it out, although I really liked Foxx' solution to the problem.
Many safe flights!

Jaun I forgot to mention that if you are planning to use a fuel dot make sure use it as third line to the fuel tank with it own clunk, otherwise you will flood your engine. I learned this the hard way.
I am planning to build a 1/4 scale of this model with a G62 engine as soon as getting the building board clear of a FW190-D9. I wish I had put the instrument hatch in its the scale location but this plane was my first attempt at scale and I was brain storming as I was building. I am sure you will done a better job.

I'm sorry I have nothing to add to this thread but I had to mention how beautiful foxx's At-6 is. It is just simply inspiring. Thanks for the pics,
