Next Top Flight kit...P-38?
A friend of mine at our field told me yesterday that he knows a guy who works for Top Flite and this guy told him that the next warbird kit to come out is going to be the P-38 Lightning.
I've always wanted one of those, and I'm sure a Top Flite kit would be easier to build than a Wing Mfg short kit or Royal kit.
Has anybody else heard anything? Or maybe my friend was just messing with me? Any comments?

For good, bad, or indifferent . . . I think TF is on the mark here, if it goes with the P-38.
Having built upon their experience with the DC-3, a twin fighter will be awesome!
Albeit, somewhat predictable, I'm looking forward to it coming about and looking toward a Richard Bong layout.

My thoughts exactly crashnburn.
Top flight tends to make medium size kits. It would compete directly with this arf. I realize a lot of warbird guys hate arf's but I saw this and examined it closely at toledo. It is gorgeous and well built. The picture is not truly accurate color wise. It could easily be repainted being mostly fiberglass and flap modifications could be made easily if you are willing to repaint. why bother to build one. besides with full retracts you would never be able to build one for 500 bucks

Based on a previous thread that had a poll on this subject, the BF-109 is a better choice for them to kit, particularly in large scale.

in talking to an 'official' at GP.....they will NEVER kit a Lockeed kit - 'cuz Lockeed wanted something like XX% of GROSS sales if they used the name (Lockeed) in the plane! AND yes, not X% but XX% - WOW...they didn't even make the P-38 at that time!

The P-38 is one of my favorites and I have built a Royal and a Ziroli. I hope everyone is ready for one of the most frustrating models you can build. Servo wires and air lines are not much fun to install in a small kit or a large one. Assuming that the T.F. will be on the smaller side, it will most likely be a handful of work to get everything installed and a very heavy model. The BF109 would be more attracting to me, but that's just my .02

A P-38 for all seasons...
No, I questioned this friend of mine if he meant the GP profile P-38 or maybe the VQ or Kondor ARF's but he said no, it is a new Top Flite kit coming out this summer.
Hey CrashNburnin, which ARF is that in the Photo? The Kondor? It looks pretty good!

Well, if Top Flite is in business to make money, marketing a P-38 kit ought to help in that department.
MUGENKID,
Don't take this personally, because your a good guy here in rcuniverse, BUT I HATE YOUR FREEKING AVITAR!!!
I can't help but envision your skull bone fragments and brain meat splashing all over your walls! I grimace and rub my forehead every time I see it.

I think its a cool avitar. Its too bad that doesn't hurt the computer at all. I'm a computer operator so I know; computers like to be broken!
That KMP Lightning is very tempting. Would really draw a crowd at the field. And it takes me YEARS to build a kit. (too many projects, not enough time).
Hey Tailskid, if it's true that Lockheed wants a percentage of the gross sales, wouldn't that discourage every manufacturer from selling a kit or plans of their planes? There are currently several available; Yellow, Wing, Royal (Marutaka), VQ, KMP, Aerotech, etc. Are they all paying Lockheed?
I used to work in a hobby shop, and we would find out about the new releases about a month before they would be in the magazines. But I had to give that up... minimum wage wouldn't hardly pay for the gas.
