The folding wings on the Bearcat were manually operated. You could have them but operating them mechanically would not be a scale function if that is of any concern.

Back on the Corsair , can anyone tell from the pics if the cowl has the cowl flap lines ? Any rudder details ? It was easy to see the extensive details on the cowl and tail area on the FW190 , but cant seem to see if the details are on the Corsair

Well finally jumped in , called in my committment , my first KMP and warbird over 71" span , hope to have some luck with the KMP brand .

Pretty much all of KMP's planes have panel line and details on the composite parts. The only parts that don't are the built up parts.

Thanks , I have no problem adding details and this plane will be no exception , I simply cant tell from the pics if the cowl has the vent lines or if they do it was modeled with them shut , but they are still apparent on the real plane even when completely closed

LDM, I've got two larger pictures of the KMP Corsair prototype. What I can make out from them is that there is a line for the "row" of cowl flaps but not for the individual flap itself.

Silly question, and i would only ask this since the corsair is a gullwing aircraft, but is the measured wingspan of 74.2 inches measured in a straight line from wingtip to wingtip, or is that measurement taken by following the contours of the gull wing. Silly it may seem to ask this but i am interested and just curious to get a better idea of its scale and size etc.

I am useing a saito 180 for engine choice , also trying the KMP gear , it looks good and many private feedback on this same gear has been very good .
AT $230 , its $120 less then after market offerings

Looking for opinions on a motor choice. Would a Zenoah G-38 swinging a 3 blade prop be too much motor for this plane?

cowl is 7inch diameter, the 38 would stick out everywhere, mine will be having either the MVVS 160, or a Zenoah 23, both will be ample

I called today , there in but not out of the warehouse yet , cant wait to get mine , fully paid [X(]
As far as the cowl , the lack of scale lines for the cowl flaps usually seen on the Corsair seem to make the cowl appear closed vs slighty open as seen on many models of the corsair . I wonder if this makes the cowl more narrow in appearance ?

Just as a point of reference, I have a Midwest AT-6 and YA zero, both slightly larger @ 82" and 80" wingspans, and the cowl diameter is 9 inches slightly tapering toward the front. The G-38 easilty fits in that diameter.

The KMP site states the flying weight is 16 Pounds, and 17 Pounds with retracts, and I should hope that means all up flying weight, I know for a fact that a 26cc Gas engine would be pushing it for any plane of that weight class, since this is a warbird and honestly dont believe anyone here plans to limit their flying a corsair to just lazy circles , i believe this plane will need something bigger, perhaps 35 cc and Up. Scale flying is nice, but being underpowered on takeoff is a no no. So the big question is what kind of bigger gas motor than a 26cc be installed into this corsair, without cutting out this cowling too much. Also there seems to be varying opinions of what the cowling diameter of this plane actually is, some say 7 inches, some say bigger, I have even called kmp myself, and it seems the rep i had spoken with had to guess but said to me its "probably more like 8 inches". Anyhow i hope this can help gather facts, i'd like it to be a succesful model, because i want one.

I hate to do this to you guys , but I just cant post pics over the next few days , (hockey Tourney ) .Hope to do so on Sunday !!!
Took delivery , nothing but first class . Seems light , the weight is in the middle gull wing , very nice surprise , while the adds say "all balsa wing the middle gull appear to be very well reinforced fiberglass sheeted wood . Strong gear rails and tons of visable good glue joints .
Panal lines on the center gull , fuse and cowl .
I took the retract option and I am very happy with the light weight appearance and the struts . The wheels are incredible but I may opt for the lighter ones that are included in the kit .The fuse is sweet , but there is still some tin canning in certain spots (nothing out of normal)
I am going with a Saito 180 , I want the sound of the 4 stroke . The early instructions called for a 120 and I know that Andrew and Paul have all said while it is desegned light and very strong a good 180 is ample power
I do think a G26 ei would work , I will try to weight the parts and see what they reveal .
