T has numatic cylinders but I'm going to replace them with electric ones. The avenger was originally designed with folding wings, the guy who built it did all the work. I'm going to go thought it to make sure everything is structurally sound.

Chic,
Thanks, let's see if it works. Here's a pix of my new 16 x 10 Xoar prop for the Trojan. I finally found a Master airscrew 16 x 10 that I will order next week

Chic,
No problem would never give up on you....
As soon as I get the 2 canopy frames recut and fitted I will go back to the Avenger..... have to remove the coverite on the bottom of the horiz stabilizer as the paint crazed. Need to do it early in the AM before the garage temps get over 90
Let's hope I can remember how I did it

Okay so here's an update.....
Got 1 half of the elevator recovered yesterday, should have just did the bottom of them in monocoat from the beginning but who knew.
Will cover the 2nd one today and try to put the adjusting screws back into the air valves so I can turn it over and start working on the servos
Oh, I forgot, I have to reinstall one of the inboard flaps that mysteriously detached itself from the airframe, just glad it didn't happen on the maiden

OK, OK - For at least the 30th plus time, I am back to work on the Avenger. Redoing the stitches on the elevators/rudder and eventually ailerons. After viewing the actual Avenger, I see where my initial stitches are completely wrong. The photos are not correct therefore, I removed them. Working on more scale like stitching, more round than elongated. Can't believe it is taking me this long to build/finish this model, but I will not quit. Chic

Chic,
Nice work, looks awesome...
BTW, can you let me know what air valves you are going to use for the gear and bomb bay doors, we used Robarts and the screws backed out when we maiden flew the plane
Off to work soon, figuring it will be WAY too hot in the garage when I get home at 12:30, not looking good this week, tomorrow 101, Tues - Wed 105 yuck

Larry, I'm using the Robarts as noted on Charlies' list of accessories. Will check on the wood screws and decide whether I should use bolts and nylon insert bolts. Have a good holiday to all. Chic

Default Charles Kellogg's TBM Avenger Build

OK, I stripped the stupid dumba** looking stitching and pink taping I did on the rudder. The stitching was "WAY TOOOO LARGE and WAY OUT OF SCALE". Didn't understand how I could miss that silly error. I certainly resized and re-evaluated after closely reviewing many photos of the rudder and especially the closeness of the stitching on the Avenger rudder, These photos are raw and once primered should look great.

The last two are certainly more scale like, the first one was surely a "BIG" mistake. Chic

Chic,
Nice work, looks like it was very tedious.
Almost have the flap fixed on the Avenger, hopefully by Wednesday since I have to do it early in the AM and I'm working today and tomorrow
And you won't believe this but the throws for the Avenger are not in the build sheets they are on the plans, was checking something out and noticed them... tough to get old and feeble
Best to Shirley
BTW, it is going to be a balmy 105 here today...ouch

Man, we talk about you and Noah all the time. Balmy 105, boy are you the cool one, balmy my butt. Tedious, you wouldn't believe how long it took. I won't even discuss it, but will say the rudder is now finished. On to the elevators. Chic

Rudder Control. Using a method a friend on RCScalebuilder was going to use on his Avenger. The grooved plastic wheel has a screw in the back to secure the pull/pull cable, similar to the full scale Avenger rudder system. The small square pieces on the bottom of the sides and secured to the wheel, help to secure and maintain the cable onto the wheel, again, similar to the full scale as can slightly be seen in post #2492. Glad to be working again. Chic
