Larry - You are a great inspiration. An invitation to the 2019 Top Gun would be "Out of Sight" but not probable. Ha, Ha - One can dream. Hope to put a final coat around the cockpit area that didn't get finished due to winds. Practicing putting panel lines on the bottom of the stab (4 lines). Chic

Hey guys,
With the help of Danny at Aeropanda finally got the gyro working WHEW!!!
Tomorrow I will clean up the wires once again. Garage now hoverin around 85 at 12:27 and we don't get the heat of the day until 3 -4
If you guys decide to get a gyro Aeropanda is definitely the way to go, Danny couldn't have been more helpful
Have to get my friend here to help me get the throttle throws right (should have gone with a side carb

Hope to get the plane buttoned up by next Monday, have to get my friend here to do the throttle with me and then balance and hopefully all set.
Hoping to get it to field when I get back from NY in May
BTW garage just hit 93 OUCH!!!!!!

Beautiful work, now you know just how tedious the rivets can be, are you leaving them flush or are you dropping glue on them couldn't really tell from the pix.
BTW, I noticed Mickey hangin on the wall, that should help you concentrate LOL
Just had to order 2 new elevator servos as I noticed a definite lag in one of them, my build buddy cheaped out when we did the build and bought Tower servos, worked for the original maiden but I'm NOY taking any chances.
Just went through Charlie's instructions again and will now have to build a balancing stand as I didn't remember that the plane balances with the gear UP!!!!!!
Off to NY next week, bringing my snow suit and long underwear

Thanks Larry - glad to see you say the Avenger balances with the gear "UP". Note to self. Hope the paint will hold them in place, that means I have to check for missing rivets to replace prior to painting. Rivets will be placed "ALL" over the fuse tomorrow. Are you driving or flying to NY? Leave the snow suit/long undies there. It will be in the 80s all next week. Yea - color painting. Chic

- Is there any laser cutter cutting the wooden parts of the Kellogg's Avenger?
- Are fiberglass parts, canopy and turret still available?
- Would the Saito 450 (the glow 3-cylinder version) be convincingly powerful enough to power the plane?

Reuben - Charlie's son (Brett Kellogg) is still making Avenger parts when requested. He is here on RCU and Facebook. The only kit cutter that I know is cutting the Avenger kit is: Precision Cut Kits 609-538-1388 I am trying to recall whether Carl's Avenger, which just recently was successfully maiden. is running a 3 cylinder Saito. Flipping back a few pages here will answer that question. Not at home to help search the thread for ya. Smile, come join us. Chic ,

Thanks for the info! Much appreciated! Will browse the thread. Trying to make space in my shop and I have been at it for some time now....heheheh. As for the engine I have a new and boxed Saito 450 and I just wondered whether it was powerful enough to pull the plane convincingly around as otherwise I would have to find an alternative radial if I decide to go for this plane.

Just be forewarned that Larry at Precision Cut Kits is cutting from Charlie's original plans, the plans you will get are the revised ones (the plans I got from Charlie were revised, that being said be prepared for a few head scratches as you put the plane together).
If you go through the entire thread you will find ?'s and answers about the difference.
But it was a fun build and my friend and I (build buddy) met a gaggle of helpful builders along the way that I am honored to now call them friends, Charlie recommends a 3W 75 with a side carb, my friend and I went with a DA85, the problem is the carb is in the rear of the engine and makes it tough to see and set the throttle without a mirror.

Chad - I am still learning how to get the rivets off the strip. Seems that if I really take the time to carefully burnish the scotch tape to the rivets, I get a better string of rivets to position on the model. I still have the fuse and wings to complete. Glad you sent me what you did. Will post photos of the rivets on the fuse. Chic
