I have had a Yellow P-47 and a Ziroli P-47 92 inch.I have to say that the Ziroli flies a lot better than the Yellow kit.The yellow maybe a little more scale, but I am more into flight quality than scale outline. The Yellow flies well but it is a little more rudder sensitive on take off. You really have to get on the rudder quickly on take off especially when flying off of pavement.

You don't mention a size. H9's 60 sizie is a really decent semi-scale and flies great.

I belive the Meister P-47 is 1/5 scale,

go to Meister Scale's web page & click on P-47 go to customer photos at the bottom is a photo of Julian Lee,

I wound say that this would be a 1/4 scale, If you've ever stood next to a full scale P-47 i think you would agree,

on the other hand, I will say the Top Flite 47 is a good plane & fly's well, but i would say its 1/6 scale,

there's a formula for figureing what wingspans are what scale , but someone else will have to help us with that,

51-D GUY.

Full scale Jug has a span of 40' 9" which translates to:

1/6 = 81.5 inches
1/5 = 97.8 inches
1/4 = 122.25 inches

The Meister at 102 inches would be ~ 1/4.8
The Top Flite at 84 inches would be ~ 1/5.8

Are you really looking for only 1/5 scale or larger? That will seriously limit your options.

The truly great thing about a P-47, regardless of size and manufacturer, is that they all fly great and have excellent ground handling thanks to the wide-spaced main gear. I've had a 1/8 scale Top Flite (63" span) and I now have a Yellow Razorback with a ZDZ 40 under the cowl. I love them both!

I am currently flying the Top Flite GS P-47. Great flying airplane. All up weight is 24 lbs, with a G-62 for power. This plane makes me look like a good flier

check www.mnbigbirds.com for a newly available 1/4 scale (122 inch) P47. It has a glass fuse and cowl. You can opt for foam or wood wing.

Robart has a P-47 available also; there is a build featured here on RCU.

Here's a very nice scale jug right in the range that you are looking for. For the most part ALL Jugs fly pretty well due to the large stab and wing area. Meisters flies best because he took lots of liberties with the airfoil (flat bottom). Most of the others have a more typical airfoil.

Don't forget the Nosen P-47 if you can find a kit. 104" wing. I had to post a Wanted add to find one. You really have to like carving before you do the Nosen kit though. Kits have to be modified for large motors and retracts. I have a build thread here on one. This will be the third Winter of building this kit. If I do another one - it will be a Meister lazer cut kit.
Thanks,
x3

You got it Todd. I should get it mid Nov. or so. I'm going with "Tempus Fugit" 31st FG 308 Sqd for a paint scheme.

I lost your number to a bad cell phone. I'll send a PM when the thing gets here.

That's not good news about Aerotech closing. What a shame! The accessories I bought from them for my Yellow P-47 are of exceptional quality and really make my bird stand out at the field. I am truly sorry to hear this and wish the best for Wayne in whatever future endevours he may seek.

Us local boys and friends hate to see Wayne close his shop, but he is ready to retire and do more flying. He is looking for a buyer of his line....we'll see what happens.
