TF P51 Finish Weight
All
Currently building the TF P51 .60 scale and have been through all the threads here looking for tips etc. I am planning on building the plane with retracts (not decided yet.. looking closely at the Spring Air) and thinking about glassing and painting.
I was wondering for all that have built this plane... what was the completed weight and what specific techniques did you use to keep the weight down. I will be flying off a grass field here in the Netherlands and am worried about the retracts if the plane is too heavy.
Any help would be appreciated.

My plane is now 13 yrs old.
Futaba 7 ch PCM.
OS 1.20 4 cycle w/o pump. Sounds really to scale while doing slow flybys on the deck.
Robart 605 with Robostruts and scale wheels and door covers - My 605s Needed adjustments at first to prevent sticking, but once adjusted, never had any problems. Robostruts are very strong and worth the investment. I fly off both grass (cow pasture) and concrete.
Flaps with two low profile retract servos.
Single aileron high speed metal servo.
Covered in Monocoat with the Col. Landers markings. May seal and paint it in a less popular color scheme since I am considering giving this plane a strip down inspection.
I had one TF P-51 that was glassed and painted with lacquer. It also had a 1.20 OS but did not fly nearly as well as the one with Monocoat due to the extra weight. For performance, I prefer not to glass a plane this small. You can use a good sealer, prime, paint, and clearcoat and get a hard finish without added the extra weight of the glass.
Total weight of mine is 10 lbs. 4 oz.

This is crazy but my st 75 is inverted (constant glow) and is spinning a 14-6 apc
prop at about 10200 rpm. I'm using a local made fuel (sprinkle model fuel) which is 15% nitro and about 18% oil (3%castor the rest klotz synthetic) with the ugly jtec muffler. More like an exhaust deflector really. IT has plenty of power with this muffler/prop combo. With the incowl muffler i was getting too much restriction and i could barely swing a 13-6 apc 9800 rpm. It was flyable with this combo and flew scale. I like the more power option though. Having it there can be helpful. I can also run at much lower rpm which sounds better anyhow.
