Default Looking For Quality P-51 or Spitfire...

....to put my YS1.20 in. I want a quality ARF that will fly great with the YS 1.20 Do any of you have any suggestions. I am currently looking at the .60 size H9 P-51, but the 1.20 may be a little big for her.

It seems like most of the Spits and Stangs are either for bigger or smaller engines.

I have been flying mine for quite some time with an OS 1.20 Surpass III(the pumped version) without any problem whatsoever. Before I started putting mine together, I heard about a possible weak glue joint on the firewall so I fixed that potential problem by taping over the holes in the firewall and pouring a couple ounces or so of epoxy in on the backside of the firewall. Rolled it around to make sure the epoxy covered 100% of the firewall/fuselage joint. I would love to have a YS 1.20 or even a YS 1.40 in mine. The airframe will stand up to it as I have already proven. I have my 20oz fuel tank positioned right over the CG. All I had to do to balance the weight of the engine was to put my battery (1800mah) in the tail just behind the wing. I also mounted the air tank for my pneumatic retracts in the tail but it wasn't much help for balancing; that was just the most convenient place.

Splais:

Hanger 9 just came out with a 120 sized version of the P-51. You can get more information about it at horizon.hobbyshopnow.com/products/description.asp?prod=HAN2400

K, there new plane is actually a 1.50-1.80 size plane.

Steve, did your YS1.20 mount without hacking up the cowl to much. Also could you tell which muffler you used as I still need to get a muffler for my engine. Also what is your overall impression visually and flyingwise of the H9. Any other assembly tips I should be aware of. thanks.

Mine was an OS 1.20, not a YS. I did not have to cut up the cowl too much at all. I used the stock muffler which is way larger on the Surpass 3 than on previous editions of this engine.

Splais,

Just to put it out there, I was originally going to buy a used YS 1.20 to put in my H9 .60 sized, but after seeing the recent actions on EBay (a dmg'd one sold for nearly $250) I figured I pay the ~$400 for a brand new YS 1.10

I've personally seen Aptar's fly and up close, def do the extry epoxy on the firewall, there was another guy posted a message when his firewall broke from the fuse in mid-air.

I also purchased robarts for mine and will be setting mine up similarly to aptar's.
