I was thinking of getting the ME 110 also and using eflite 60 outrunners - I don't really want to spend that much on a arf and have to do major mods to get the batteries and motors to fit though. Did you ever buy it? How hard is it going to be to install that?
Thanks,
Pappy

Are you still selling the Me 110? What is the price? Where would it be shipping from?
Let me know.
Thanks

Did you ever sell your BF 110 or did you get it up? I was thinking about getting one and would appreciate your input - I would also go electric.

Did you get and build your BF 110? What motors did you end up using and what is the flying weight? I have one coming in this week.
Thanks

Pappy,

I am also going with two Eflite Power 60 motors that should generate 2400 watts of power. I haven't started on it yet.

That's what I have, but I am hearing that may not be enough power. I just got my plane last night - very nice arf. I am also wondering where the hell I'm gonna put the batteries. Any ideas?

If you go with the two Power 60 motors you can use two 6S 5000 mah pack. You can try one in each nacell or run wire to the center section and put them both in the fuze. I am going to try and run them in the fuze so I can get the weight farther forward and make it cleaner looking. I need to see how much power loss I get running the wires over that distance. It shouldn't be too much as I am only going about 2-3 feet on each side. I will just use some high grade copper wire so the resistance is low.

I think the two 60s will be fine. I know others have used similar motors, but they weren't getting 1200 watts per motor like I do using a 16-10 three blade prop. I have used this setup on numerous planes and it been great. I will be trying this setup first before I do anything else. If I need to go to a larger motor that will require more batteries and weight. I am not sure it will be better adding more weight. Two 90s would be good, but you might as well go to twin 110s because they use the same batteries.

Thanks. You think you can get 1200 watts out of those motors with just a 6S and those props? I know they are rated at that but what I've found is that it's hard to get max wattage out of these electrics. I am going to build the plane first and see what it ends up weighing before I mount any motors. I would like that to work as I already have two 60s, esc's and 6s 5000 packs - it would save me alot of money....
When are you gonna have your's up in the air?

I haven't started on mine yet. Probably won't start until the fall. I have been getting over 1200 watts from those motors using a 16-10 three blade or 16-12 two blade prop. It's a little hard on the motors, but as long as you aren't running full throttle all the time they work great! I have used this setup in more than 10 planes so far and it's been a solid performer with a max output of 1284 watts using a 16-12 prop. That should be enough for more than 100 watts per pound which should fly the plane just fine.

Maybe I will get this plane going sooner I have a large Corsair ahead of it, but that plane will take a long time to complete and maybe I should get this one ahead of it and do the Corsair in the winter?

I started on it last weekend

I will try and post some updates as I get more into the build. It's such a nice looking plane! It's going to be pretty simple without any extra weight. The only thing I may change is the tail wheel, but that's it.

My suggestion for anyone going electric is to locate the battery in the NOSE! I can't say much more then that right now.

Keep an eye out for the KMP 110 review <electric> in a upcoming FlyRC

Nose not nacelles huh? Keep us posted when the review comes out. I am starting my build this week.

The problem with the weight in the nacelles is that it can increase the stress in the wings if you have rough landings. The extra weight also makes the wings flex a lot in the air. Getting the weight in the nose makes sense if you don't have too much voltage drop over the wires. It shouldn't be a problem based on my calcs and past experience with twins. It would also make changing the batteries much easier as I should be able to make the nose cone come off with magnets for eash swaps.

Watching your guys progress on this. I too want to put one of these together this Winter. I also plan on going electric. Like some previous posts I use the Eflite 60 with a 6s on several warbirds and love that combination. Was thinking a pair of E60's on this bird but some of the earlier posts about poor performance make me wonder if the E60's will do the job. I don't get 1200 watts out of my E60's at my altitude. I'm getting right at 1000 watts running a 17/6 at 5200' of altitude with 8 minutes of flight time on 12 lb warbirds (P51, T28). Capture a bunch of pictures of the battery installation, that to me will be the toughest part of the build. Thanks, Jerry.

Jerry,

I run a 16-10 three blade or 16-10 two blade and get over 1200 watts using the 60 motors from Eflite. It's been a good combo so far and should be about right for this plane. I will try this first before going to a larger motor. I only get about 8 minutes flight time with this setup depending on how much I use the trottle.

The nacelles on this plane are large and heavy. I just started on it and will have to see how much it weighs when finished. It will be easy to upgrade is the 60s are too small.

I hope to get more done this weekend and have some photos of my setup by then.

I agree - I have the Eflite 60s and want to use them - since I have heard varying reports of the actual weight of this beast, I am going to build it first and weigh it and then put the right motors in for it. I am hearing from the posts that it will be at LEAST 20lbs, probably more. I don't want to run at full throttle the whole time ethier. I do like the idea of batteries in the nose. What milliamps are you guys talking about with the 6s? I have some 6s 5000ma that I was thinking about.
Thanks,

That's exactly what I will be using: two Eflite Power 60s and two TP 6S 5000 mah packs. I also will be using two Castle HV-85 ESCs

I use a Castle BEC and 1320 3S lipo pack for the receiver power.

Hey neighbor. Id have to say your pitch is too low. A 17x6 prop is not loading the motor up enough to get 1200 watts. Its also not developing enough speed IMO. As others have stated, a 16x10 would do the trick. On mine(not yet started cuz Im finishing up the KMP B-25 for Warbirds over the Rockies)....Im using two turnigy motors rated at 1475 watts and will be spinning either 15.75x13 3 blade APC or 13.4x13.5 3 blade APC props. The bigger ones are good for 5s on my motors and the smaller props good for 6s on same motors, but will also work fine for 5s.

As a comparison, I have a similar size and kv motor as the e-flite 60 on a Kyosho FW-190 and I wasoriginally running a 14x12 prop. I changed it to a 14x9 3 blade prop for better looks and longer flight times, but I wouldnt go below a 8 pitch for any warbird, but thats me.

16-10 is the prop Eflite recommends to get the most out of the motor. A 15-10 three blade will also work great. I have been using Master Air's 16-10 three blades on mine and they work great! They can work the motor hard if you stay at full trottle for too long, but it's great for a fast pass and then back off the trottle.

Here I leave a link to a video of my friend Angel Cristobal´s KMP BF 110 first flight last Saturday which went like silk.

You mau find details on motors, esc, propellers and batteries at the end of the video. Hope you like it:

Jeff, did you ever build your 110? I never got started, as the economy of 09 hurt me and I couldn't afford to buy motors - etc.. I was wondering where you were on this, as I am now ready to start my build.
Let me know.

Good God what a shame to go electric on a bird this beautiful, no offense to you electric guys but give me the sound of two purring four strokes every time!

Those Four strokes sound really nice until the sound of 2 four strokes go to the sound of 1 four stroke about 10 ft off the ground on a flyby........
