Scale Wings LA7 @TIGER
Hi All,
Thought you all might be interested in this build, which is the Big LA7 from Scale Wings .,
I'm doing this build for a customer,so he can keep tabs on me!!! and he can also watch the progress.
Well Johann has spent a last few years devolping this kit and has got to be seen to believed, the detail is amazing!!!! right down to the small wrinkles along the nose.
The scale of this babe is 1:3,5 giving it a span of 2.8 m, and the power plant will be and got to be the Moki 250!!!
I'm not going to spend hours on this build thread, so I will update it when I can, the plan is to get it flying along side my Big XXL Corsair {Annie Mo} for this season!!!!
I have had the kit for a few months now and have been waiting on some new up-to-date parts, one of them being the all in one engine mount.
Here are a few pics of the kit and parts, and a nice shinny new Moki.
And the link to Johann's "Scale Wings " http://www.scalewings.com/flugzeuge/lavochkin_e.php
Cheers Graham B

HI Dave,
Yes I'm still felling a bit under the weather with this snotty cold, but I hope to see you tomorrow night down at the WF.
I had a chat with JC last night, and was shocked to hear that he was in Hospital!!! he is now out and tacking it easy at home,so I would like to wish him a speedy recovery and not to start rushing about up and down the country as he normally does,so If you are watching John get well soon as we have all these big birds to fly!!!!!
A bit more progress with the LA7, the Moki is now mounted and looking rather good.
The new engine mount from Johann is worth the extra £££ as it makes the mounting of the Moki a joy rather than head scratching wondering how you are going to do it.
Every thing is there for you to mount the Moki including a clever littlie part for the choke, all it is a offset crank so you can have a straight through connection to the servo, normall this is a bit of a pain when setting up the Moki but now it's a 5 minute job.
I have also got the cowl all done, this includes all the hidden fixings, and that lovely baffle for the Moki, again every thing is there for you to fix,but a bit of time is needed for setting up.
Here some pics starting off with the mount through to the cowl fixed in position.
Cheers Graham B.

Hi Steve, Greg,
Yep ,she has to be on of the best kits about, she is going together very well.
Have you found any tricky parts to the build,so far I have not found a thing, it just all slips together with no tailoring.
What have you both used regarding servos what torque???and what are you radio set up's, can you post up your choices.
Steve, keep us posted on your taxi trials, and did you find out any more on "C of G" what I have with other big Comp birds they need weight, especially on landing, the Airworld 190 is a prime example, soon as you drop the flaps she bounces and flutters about and just floats on and on, Ali added a fair bit of weight to his 190 to get her to come in nice and smooth.
Steve regarding Pilots, I will be making some Ruskis pilots up,these will be made in the same way as my other pilots, here are some pics of my other 1/4 scale pilots.
Hi Dave, that wing looks the very, very nice,a shame The Boy wants you to paint it silver!!!!
I'm still trying to find that all metal scheme for the LA7, I saw it last year some where but can I find now, anyone seen it????!!!!!!!
Looking forward for a catch up Dave, see you tonight.
Cheers Graham.

Hi All,
Here are some shots of the Elevators and Rudder hinging, these just need a bit of time to set up and get right, but again every thing slots together nicely. Another nice thing about this set up, you can remove the surfaces for inspection and painting just buy taking the main pin out.
Well I had to do it!!!! I have been wondering where to have the services access, there are some nice big simulated access panels at the back of the plane, but they wont do,to much weight down the rear end!!!. So I have opted for the main Gun hatch at the front, this will now give us access to every thing,we can also check to se how much fuel will be in the tanks!!!!.So with my old razor saw and the extra length of piano hinge we got off Johann, job done.
Cheers Graham.

Ah, for those of us over here in the Colonies, are you folks going to let on where to get one of the Scale Wings LAs? (other than from the ScaleWings guys....).
I suppose the shipping is going to kill us (as usual) but any of the stateside guys going to let on where they got their LA models?
It would some nice information to share......
Thanks,
langerl
PS: Graham. I guess I missed the place on your website regarding 1/4 scale pilots. Can you point me to it or tell us how we can go about getting one made up? I've a 1/4 scale PCM 109 looking for a driver.

Hi Langerl,
We are over here already in Orlando, Florida. Bob,s Hobby Center in Orlando bought two of them in direct from Scalewings. It is unlikely that there will be a distributer over here owing to low production levels.
If you want one speak with Steve at Bob,s 407 277 1248, he has dealt with Johann since the project started.
Both planes will appear at Top Gun 2009.
The shipping was very sensible and it all went really easy
Best wishes

HI Langerl,
Good to hear from you and I hope you are well.
Yes Steve is right, Johann is a great guy to get on with and will help you any way he can,I did have a chat with him a fortnight ago ,he is resting up on doctors orders, he has burnt himself out after getting all of last years orders out,he will be back with all the new orders at the end of the Month,he is still answering all emails though and would be more than happy to hear from you. [email protected]
Yes regarding the pilots, I have had a good response on them and will taking orders, as I'm just hear myself I will allocate a month to do a batch of pilots.
They are not on the website yet,but we will be updating very soon with some new parts,Pilots and planes.
The email on the site is down again so if anyone wants to get in touch you get me through this mail.

Hi John,
How you doing,I hope your feeling a bit better.
I thought your new name was "Johnny Jet"
That's good news on your new site, so can we put it down on the calendar for the 1st of March, I'm sure Dave and Aaron would like to come, we have plenty to test out.
Yes we have got to do the La7 in that metal finish,it will show up Johann's handy work ever so well, but it still has to have that beat up look.
Cheers Graham B.

Hi Graham,
The more beat up the better. Checked out F16 all looking good may fly it at Elvington with Jim & Jeff this Sunday if all goes well on the blood front. Going to put the metal finish 3W Mustang with 150 in line on BMFA site, i think i need to thin out a bit, i know shes a minter and flys like a dream but i prefer the radials. Let me know when the 190 wing is ready for picking up so i can arrange something.
Cheers
