Anyone have an extra cowl. Rear glow on rear cylinder broke the brass glow insert. Might try a saito 180 if I can get another cowl.

2nd flight success! 17x8 prop pulls it good. I am going to try a 16x10 but probably after I get a few flights in with the 17x8.

Nice, pretty much same as me but mine was already built. Motor sounds great and having flown 2 stroke, single 4 stroke and gas engines I would say for you to stay with this 200ti. Very unique and honestly notbody at my field had seen one in person. I have only flown scale with my 200ti but as I get more flights I will try and push thit limits and see what it will do on the P-51.
Hopefully I can get a video soon and you can see how it sounds in the air because nobody really has any videos of that combo.

Do not know if you saw my earlier post but here is mine during break-in.

Default DLE 55 to big??

Hey guys I just got this plane from a friend that got it from a friend and it is in excellent condition all it needs is and engine. I'm on the process of installing a DLE 55 but after reading a lot on this thread I'm not sure if I may be pushing it a bit, looks like the DLE 30 may be a better choice (I have one too) .
all suggestions are welcome, thanks.

I think a DLE 35 would be nicer At least that is what I plan on putting on mine.

Yeah a DLE 35 should be fine. I have a saito 200ti which is heaver than the DLE 35 and about the same cc range. With my 200ti and a truturn spinner, I had to add 1.75 oz to the tail and move the battery back to the wing bolt area for it to balance out. I think the DLE 35 will balance with probably just moving the battery.

DLE 55 will just be way too much for this bird....

I have a Saito 180 turning a 16x10 prop and it performs and sounds great.

Waking the dead ....

Hangar 9 P-51 150 version 1. Powered by a Saito FA-200Ti. Great combo!!! Third flight in 10 years. Still breaking the engine in. Stopped flying for a little while and wanted to build my skill back up a little. This was also after upgrading to Robart Electric gear.
