RE: KMP Hurricane - maiden
Sonny,
I just used some plastic washers to space mine so the wheels don't wobble. Works fine. I think the CG is pretty good, but the doors (45 degree to the wind) do cause a problem when they are down. I have to trim the plane for the gear up/down to get the flight level. I just ended up taking them off. It's great without the doors and flies very well.

Sonny thats a bummer. The Hurri is such a neat airplane it deserves better. $140 for retracts is cheap!! GOOD retracts cost more but are worth the cost in my humble opinion. Don't ask me how I know LOL

its not a question of the retract quality, but more of its actions, for the Hurri, its not a straight forward retract action, it needs a knuckle, look at the bearcat action, its a nightmare to reproduce in model form, if anyone can solve the door problem, let me know, but for us, we just fly the thing, it will easily put up with the doors as they are

I use the ESM retracts with the doors, no trim change is need wheels up or down, I did put a slight curl in the doors by heating them up with a hot air gun and holding the shape will they cool.

My experience with the stock gear door set up is the same as Alan mentions...no problem whatsoever. The ESM gear axles do bear watching however, they are pretty soft and will bend with moderate impact loads. Nice thing about potmetal is you can bend it back a few times before it finally breaks.

Michael,
I don't remember the spinner size, but it's slightly less than the diameter of the cowling. I think 4.25 or 4.5 inches.
The stock tail gear was not something I liked either. I used the Dubros one for mine. It works pretty well, but does drag on the fuse a little. Looks nice though.

I have canopies and scoops to fit this model now
Parkflyerplastics.com
The canopy looks better then stock and the scoops should be able to put up with the landing problems.

Yes, they are on the site as of yesterday.
I'm just trying to get the word out now.
A flying buddy bellied his in and took out the scoops , while it was in the shop I reworked the canopy too.
The scoops require some cutting and fitting but since they are made with .040 clear plastic and works with CA it's not a hard job.
Note that because of the shape of the scoop, the fit is hard until you cut the forward scoop opening to allow it to open a bit.
The little scoop is really simple. Cut the flange off and slide it over the step in the larger piece.

I would highly recommend you get rid of those Dean's plugs! They are only good to about 60 amps. Over that they overheat and can come unsoldered. We ran into this a lot when the fast electric boat craze started out. I use 5.5mm gold bullet connectors and some use 6.0mm on High Volt setups like yours.

Batteries
Greetings from Finland
mfranke You did ask about how to install batteries in KMP Hurricane. I think Limodune has good solution.
