More of the cowl and my crude yet effective vacu-forming set-up. The heater is the upper coil out of a junked oven that I plug into a 220v outlet in the shop. One box for small parts and the other for larger stuff.
If anyone has a spare CMP cowl or knows of a source, other than NitroPlanes in the USA, I am really looking to buy a decent cowl. Until then I'll mess around with this one and ultimately use it as the primary "flying" cowl.

Here's a good source for Zero spinners if you missed it in a much earlier post. (For those of us who aren't as skilled as Prekin...Really cool..."made it myself..."wow!)
Thay have a distribution center in the USA but 1/2 the time I order from them it comes from Hong Kong anyway.

Hi Frets,
I didn´t fly with Stuka on this air show, becouse there were very strong cross wind, and unforunately it started rain after the lunch time [] I flew only with my small Zero.
Your navigation light in the tail looks really very well.
If looking for the engine cowl, you can try this link: http://pelikandaniel.com/?sec=product&id=4751&lng=en it is distributor in the Czech Republic, but I think, that there isn´t problem to order in the USA from this e-shop.
What about http://www.raidentech.com Are there any spare parts?
I know "your" source for the spinners, but I haven´t experience with the shopping in or from the USA
I would like to have the opponent aircraft for my Zero, so I thinking about the P-47 Thunderbolt, SBD Dauntless and maybe about the P-40 Warhawk and F4U Corsair, but the last two have "bad" landing gear. So, I would like know your opinion which one would be the best.

Prekin,
Thanks for the Czech Rep. dist. link; I'll look into a translated page, but if I see it right they say they have 3 in stock. RaidenTech is the east coast USA warehouse of NitroPlanes under a different name so they have a doubled chance to give you the RooRoo
I have always been a big fan of the P-40 Warhawks and there's one in the stack of planes in the build que as my "member of the opposition". The landing gear can be a challenge. I guess that's half the fun[&:]
You could always go with a twin and do a P-38 Lightning.
A lot of folks really like the P-47 Thunderbolt and most of the models fly very well...even so, they never have appealed to me as a build.
The spinners can be ordered from the Hong Kong division as well. I had 3 spinners from them as 3 seperate orders along with several other orders from TWM. Always placed the order with the California division yet 2 of the 3 spinner orders came from Asia and a handfull of the other stuff came from Asia instead of Calif also.

frets, what P-47 do you have? I love those planes myself, but not sure which one to get. The Yellow looks terrific, but is quite pricey.
Sorry for the non Zero posting.

I think you meant P-40...'cause I'm not really partial to the Jugs.
Never was able to find an affordable on in the 70' size so I had to get creative...
The P-40 I have is a box of balsa and lite ply formers, ribs and stuff hand cut from enlarged Top Flight plans to yield a 70.5" (1800mm) stick built plane. There is a CMP lower cowl and canopy for their 73" (1850mm) in the box as well, but I'll probably end up making a couple of plugs for those parts and having a friend vacu-form them on his larger setup. I'll fiberglass reinforce the cowl piece.

Hi Frets, I didn´t know, that Raidentech is the same as Nitroplanes.
If you want to translate something, you can send it to me, and I can do it.
I would like to have P-40. I had one. It was the small one from CMP. I can buy the ESM landing gear for the Corsair or for the P-40, but it is expensive for me.
I thinking about the Top-Flite P-47. Now it is far future. At the first time, I have to make maiden flight with my Zero.

Got my tailwheel retract fabricated and the wing put together after reinstalling the Wingspan retracts that went out for some warranty work. The retracts had to be reshimed and all sorts of things to get the doors to line up properly and the wheels have the right track when extended. should have been just a straight drop in since all of that had been done before...took about six hours of fiddling
On the tail wheel I just added a bit of balsa to a robart TW retract unit to get the idea of the Zero TW. The yoke is from a dubro 90-120 tailwheel assy(DB957). Not one of the things I wanted to spend a great deal of time on.
Was planing on using a Saito FA-150 on this one since neither my ASP400 radial nor my FA-170R3 radial fit into the cowl without heads sticking out everywhere; I just couldn't resist and scored a decent deal on Saito FA-200Ti twin inline 4 stroke that I'm hoping will lend itself to this plane instead. The multi-cyl 4c's have such a killer sound
And on a lighter note...there's some stuff you could never just "make up"[&:]

Good job with the tailwheel. Those tailwheels look great, I got one for my Spitty, luckily for me the Spit has a non-retract tailwheel unit (well the MKIX does, but the similar MKVIII frame doesn,t so I'm going for that one)
Yeah, you're 100% correct on the multi cyl. engine sound
I love the North American Continent, but so far here in the EU we don't have Sumo wrestlers attacking Snickers bar over a gay chick. ) Oh well, we can't have everything....
Cheers V.

No worries, Vasek. When I first saw the headlines I just KNEW it had to have been in California. The visualization just got even funnier when I imagined a big sumo wrestler lez screaming at her ex and a snickers bar in a thick Irish brogue.
Casey, I could actually see Snickers using it. After all they did do one about sharks eating people.

Tail wheel installed and cowl finished. Yay. In the pics of the cowl all by itself it is actually painted with the silver base coat...just doesn't look that way in the light of the shop.
Next is glass the wing detail and paint. I may get this in the air by September after all.

RE: CMP 120 Zero ARF Build thread
You are going to center the engine in the cowl rite? The crank shaft should be dead center in the cowl. Just curious because your photo shows other wise.

RE: CMP 120 Zero ARF Build thread
Motor was just sitting on a folded up towel on the workbench to raise it up an inch(25mm) for the hub to be up where it's supposed to be, so it wasn't really levelled or fixed in the pic; was also tilted.
As it turns out I'll have to decide whether to perfectly center the spinner and cut out clearance in the lower cowl for one set of rocker covers or leave the cowl uncut and cheat the spinner/propshaft off-center 3/16 (5mm) toward the top.
Decisions, decisions.....Okay; opinions time. Center and cut? Cheat and have no extra holes in the cowl?
