Scale Four Blade Prop Drive
I would like to start a new thread that is for those of interested in running scale size props on our warbirds. Here is the information I have been able to find so far. If anybody has any sources to add or information on making your own drive lets put here.
Ralph Borchers - no longer makes the drives
Mick Reeves - reduction drive for g-62
Toni Clark - reduction drive for g-38
Scale Warbird Prop Drives - no update on their site for 1 year but nice drawings for making your own
Solo Props - still making scale props.

RE: Scale Four Blade Prop Drive
Most guys are going the big motor route to allow for a scale prop these days. With so many big inch motors available, there is not much need for reduction drives.

RE: Scale Four Blade Prop Drive
I still think there is a place for reduction drives. If well designed, allows the centre line of the motor to be raised, so the head doesn’t stick out as much. This could be handy on those narrow nosed birds like the Me-109, hurricane etc.It would also reduce the RPM the prop needs to be spinning at which making more like the full sized RPM wise there by increasing the torque, Less load on the blades themselves, better all round.
I would love to see someone attach a 26" solo 4 blade prop onto a byro-drive unit out of the Mustang. That would fix the major problem of the original byro-drive and that was it’s prop flattening out in flight and losing pitch. Now that would be awesome to see!
Thanks
dave

Those blades flexed for a reason.
Those blades flexed for a reason.
The later versions were stiffer.. and i know there were a few people looking into the option of having them made in composites.

Here's another viable source. [email protected]
Hi, Yes I do, what engine do you plan on using? I have in stock drives for Super tiger 4500 shown on the left and for a custom Homelite Chainsaw engine.
