Default Meister Scale FW 90D9 to Atlanta or Bust!!!!

Hey guys,

I wanted everyone to see my new FW-190 D9 that I did in "white 10" scheme that "evil merlin" told me about on there (thanks)! This was in primer 2 weeks ago with nothing installed. As of tonight, it is ready to fly!!! I'm excited how she came out. This is from Meister-Scale and I'm exited about adding this to my line of warbirds. It has a Quadra 75 flying on JR stuff. I look forward to a fun weekend at Warbirds over Atlanta!!!!

For some reason today I kept thinking about this Meister design. How was it to build? I would really like to build one of these someday. My next endeavor will be the TA 152 though. In 1/5 scale from Andersen plans. Good luck with the maiden and great job. What retracts? Sierra?

PJ! Awesome work bud! LOVE it!

I'm still waiting for the glass fuse, mostly because I'm just lazy! But I did get my Sierra Retracts. Power will be a GT-80.

The Meister 190D was my first giant scale build. Mine had a G62 in it and was an excellent flyer and easy build after having only built a couple of kits and a Top Flite P-40E. The only drawback was the CJM gear that were about all that was available at the time. I had the gear fail with the play just assembled and sitting in the pits. Sweet airplane I will build another at some point in fact I kept the cockpit to put in the new airplane when it gets built.

PJ, nice Bird!

Here is my question: I see that many times, that builders fabricate, form, create these wonderful replicas and then......a wooden propeller????? I mean unpainted blunt propeller. Don't get me wrong PJ, but this is an very heavily eyesore for me.

Just a question PJ

Have fun flying that bird and report how she handles....

G-Pete, the Fw 190 D9 did indeed have a wooden prop most of the time. Sure it was three bladed, but wood none-the-less!

But yeah PJ, paint that thing blue-grey (blaugrau?) and be done with it!

Actually I'll take this time to ask a question about the Meister FW 190 D9. I'm want to do a scale D9, but was'nt really wanting to go as big as this Meister D9.(although this is my kit of choice, I just wish they offered it like they do the BF 109 in a 84" wingspan.) Now I have not decided against it as of yet but really wish I could stay around the 1/6th scale. I've built several of the Top Flight kits(around 1/7th scale), and like the lines on their D9, but its out of production, I'd have to hunt one down, do several mods ect...so perhaps with a little talk about how wonderful this Meister kit is to build and fly would help lol.

I guess I wonder if I was to build say the Top Flight D9 would I wish I had just made the jump to giant?
Any thoughts?

Hey Guys,

Sorry I've been so quiet. We are having a blast down here in Atlanta!! Flight report-Plane flew awesome!! The Quadra 75 works great in this bird and pulls her around. We've only had a few flight on it, but its looking to be a nice plane. We (Meister-Scale) will be realeasing a fiberglass fuse. for this plane and like I did with our P-47, I will be building a step-by-step manual for the D-9. Frank Tiano is with me here and he thinks it could do well at Top Gun. So.....I am using this one as my practice plane and building the fiberglass fuse. for Top Gun. Dino flew the plane for the first time today and told me it was the best D9 he flew, so I'm really happy. I'll post better picks later!

PJ

PS, wish you all were here!

Oh no PJ, the first glass D9 fuse is mine, and you'll have to worry about me at Top Gun in 2011...

PJ put in an early version of the CJM FW-190 landing gear. To date, they are holding up just fine. When PJ returns, he is going to send them in for update.

Likewise, he use the CJM landing gear in his Top Gun P-47. Hopefully he will send them in for update as well!

Hey Guys,

I wanted to put some pics of the cockpit kit and "Hans" up for ya. I finally got around to doing some more scale stuff to this plane. The cockpit kit and Hans came from Meister-Scale and I think really set the plane off. I did some additions to the cockpit to make it more scaleish. I think it came out pretty good.
