first warbird build
Hi there all
I have built a few kits before and have chalked up quite a few hours on my homemade 'stick', and now want to realise my dream of my first warbird, and need some help deciding which particular one to build, considering the following;
i. I only have an enya .60 engine
ii. Would like to go with mechanical retracts
iii. Scale looks are very important to me.
iv. I would like to do the building; am not interested in an ARF
I was thinking of the topflite spitfire. Is a .60 enough guts for this plane if I have retracts etc? Another option is the topflite mustang, but again I am not sure if .60 is enough. I am also not sure if the latter comes as a kit or an ARF? Lastly, I don't know which of the two warbirds would be a better option for beginners- the landing gear of a spitfire seems problematic for two reasons;
a. It retracts backwards in two planes of motion
b. When down has a narrow track
So I am quite perplexed? If anyone has any thoughts please let me know!!

Use the search function at the bottom of the main Warbird page for any model you can think of and enjoy.
(Go the Spitfire, you wont be disappointed)
Good luck and have fun,
Brad

RE: first warbird build
Hey
I am just completing my first warbird. I built the spitfire tf and it was an enjoyable build. I have built a cub and a rv-4 before it and I thought it was not to difficult. It was challenging but at a fun level. The size engine I dont know about the info says its ok just try to keep her light. Good luck. I did fiberglass mine and was the first time I ever did glassing and it was not that hard just time consuming for me. It added 3.2 oz in weight to the air frame.
