Fred, you lookin for some bearcat pics? Good luck. They will either be bluue, dark blue, silver or Rarebear and maybe the drone series. What are you building? I am setting up to finish my JD Bearcat and I have the same issues. Here are a few from my searches. There is always airlines.com, the plastic model sites. I ordered a few books and went on ebay to find some models.

Don't forget the G-58a and G-58b. I am particularly fond of the first one.

RE: Bearcat Color Schemes, any sites???
I'm just about ready to start glassing my bates bearcat and am leaning toward the marine scheme in rambro's upper left pic. But I haven't been able to figue out if that's a red band (reserves) or orange band (training squadron). If it's orange, wouldn't the squadron be VMFT-12? I'm leaning toward red, since the band in the pic looks to be the same color as the star bar.
Anyway, short of the rocket testbed with the yellow wings, the Marine scheme is about the most colorful military one I've been able to find after a lot of digging.

I don't think it is any sort of reserve squadron marking. As far as I am aware ALL reserve units had orange bands and I've never seen any with red or any other color. However, I'm certainly no expert in Bearcat markings!

Hey guys, thanks for all the help. I'm leaning towards the test Bearcat with the blue fuse and yellow wings and red stripes. Need something I can see in the air. Keep them coming.
Thanks,
Fred

Well, I started slinging paint, I've got my fuse done in Warbirds Colors sea blue, and just about ready to start painting the wing.

The Marine squadron VMF 12 is not correct along with the Q on the tail The Q is an identifing symbol for NAS Puunene , by the time the Bearcats hit the fleet the NAS was closed (1947). The USMC since 1940 had used three digits in their fighter squadrons ie VMF 112
