Default Ripmax Tiger Moth

Hi,

I got the Tiger Moth second hand today but no manual. I want to check the COG, can anybody give me a suggestion where it should be. I am not sure with biplanes.
Thanks

Hi Progo,

Which Tiggie did you get? What size engine?

G'day mate ,

I have 3 'moths from a littles GWS foam one up to a 76" Green Models and I balance them just in front of the rear of the "fuel tank" mounted on the cabane struts. and as always nose heavy is better than tail!!

good luck

Richard,

The engine size is 36. Should be between 25 and 40 2-stroke.

Spud,

Thanks, will try it.

I have one of those too, I think, and have the manual somewhere - I'll try to find it to give you a definite answer.

You can see mine in the attached photos - both in the original covering and after recovering.

My is looking the same as your original cover version. The recover looks really good.

Is the Ripmax available in the States?

Can't find the manual but I added a servo screw under the upper wing at the CG when I recovered it so I measured that. It is 125mm from the front of the upper wing (perhaps 100 from the trailing edge).

HTH

Richard

p.s. OldFart1, Ripmax is a UK company and I think their products are only available in the UK.

Thanks Richard for the information this will help a lot.

@ Old Fart1
Ripmax is a wholesale distributer, you need to find a dealer who will ship the stuff to you. Try Moor Models (http://www.moormodels.co.uk/) or Sussex Models (http://www.sussex-model-centre.co.uk/) they may do it but I am not sure.

You are welcome, Progo. When I said "perhaps 100 from the trailing edge" I meant "perhaps 10mm from the trailing edge"! Sorry!

Oldfart1, I concur on Moor Models - I've used them many times - even when I lived in South Africa - and never had a problem.

Moor doesn't list the Ripmax Tiger Moth - at least I didn't see it under the Ripmax section

I think we need to have our next Airport Conference in the UK - I need "stuff"

Oldfart1, it appears Ripmax don't do this Tiggie any more so I guess you will battle to find one unfortunately.

But yes, there is some nice 'stuff' available over here!

Richard
