DUMMY RADIAL ENGINES
I am looking for dummy radial engines for my B-24. I looked a FTE's and have used 1 in a P-47. The big problem is they are heavy. I need four and that will add a 1 pound to my plane. I also do not want the extra weight in my cowl and on my cowl mounts. I have used topflite radials but do not last to long. Any ideas? The plane is 1/9th scale
Thanks, Wes

RE: DUMMY RADIAL ENGINES
Wes I just recieved a Top Flight radial dummy for an AT6. and it appears to be thicker than the other topflight dummy motors that I have got in the past. A person could fill one with plaster paris and vacuum form their own. Just a thought. Rich

RE: DUMMY RADIAL ENGINES
Wes,
I paint the T/F dummy engine then add pushrods and spark-plug wires first. Then I paint silicone on the backside to give it some firmness. While silicone is wet I stick the whole thing to a plywood plate to give it even more but light strength. Then I cut holes for engine. This set-up gives the dummy engine some durability to handle most stress yet still light.

RE: DUMMY RADIAL ENGINES
I would suggest Epoxy to mount cast resin or plastic molded radials to wood or composite cowls
RC-56 to adhere vacuum formed ed Styrene to wood
Solvent types below to adhere vacuum formed Styrene plastic to same material
Solvent type glues MEK, Acetone or Testors, for assembling a vacuum formed radial kit such as shown on the GREAT Dare Products site[8D]
