RE: P-47 Razorback
S. Pacific 47's had a lotta white on their planes,,,leading edges, entire tail. Find acopy of Squadron/signal publications Thunderbolt P-47 in the Pacific Theater or their P-47 in Action both have many color schemes for P-47's.

Have you seen the new 85'' Top Flite P-47 ARF. It use to only come as a kit I think. Sells for $500 plus.

Jeff, I would appreciate any information you can share.
AirplaneMan04, as far I know, Equinox is the only company that does a semi kit 1/4 scale P-47. I believe that is the D model. Currently looking at plans for a Razorback which will probably be from Don Smith plans.

Here's a site, that a little hard to get around, but if this is the link to the P-47 page!
If you scroll down and click on where it says page 1, page 2, ect. you'll see various p-47 schemes!

RE: P-47 Razorback
Alright David - you scared me there for a moment with your question
"Considering a 1/4 scale version and need a color scheme that would be quite visible in flight.
"
Well a 1/4 scale P-47 has just a tad over 10 foot - 10!
No matter what color you should see that bird
Are you saying you don't see right and have problems with your eyesight??? In that case a bigger bird don't resolve your problem - it just increases the risk for bystanders.
This size aircraft does not maybe kill someone - it WILL kill definitely!
Here you see Manny's 1/4 scale in action - even a light silver gets dark very fast.

RE: P-47 Razorback
Hey Guys,
Thanks for the responses.
G-Pete, vision is fine, just looking for something that really shows its colors while airborne. I have a 1/5 scale MB 339 that is red, white, and blue and these colors tend to show up quite well in the air. On the other hand, my 40% Yak (129"span and 121"long) in grey and light blue with a bit of yellow. The colors of this plane are not very visible to me. Yes, I can paint the P-47 in a non-scale color(s), but that would simply defeat the purpose of building a large scale warbird. So looking for scale paint scheme for the 47 that really stands out.[8D]

RE: P-47 Razorback
or just the pre captured version...
I'm very glad I just misunderstood the vision thang
Anyhow, what ever you choose a good story about that plane is always cool. Like my Beetle, who flu that aircraft, what mission, when and how the Germans captured the aircraft and when it returend to the USAF.
Like the P-47 of Tex, he was on a mission against Japanese - in the hectic he forgot to switch over the fuel selector after he dropped the axillary fuel cells. Moments later a zero came it his path. The Zero dove away and Tex followed and his engine quit. Pushing it down he managed to blow the Zero out of the sky and restart his motor.
This is the only one reported kill in a GLIDE....
That's what I meant, with a story about the airplane.
Good luck with the build and post here your progress with many pictures!
