Default FW 190 A to D 1:5.2 scale

Hello

I have a question here for the Focke-Wulf experts :-)

I have a wing and elevator-wing built and left over from a DPM 1:5.2 scale 190 A kit. Now i am thinking about the possibility of using the wings i have ,and build a new D9 (long) fuselage.

I don`t know of any D9 kits in this scale , so i was thinking of using my old plans for the A-model fuse . So , is the only differense between a D and A the fuselage`s longer nose and tail , or is there any other dimensional differenses of significanse ??

Not really. From the front part of the canopy (kinda where the "firewall" is) to the tail plug and then from the tail plug back (except for the Ta 152 tails which made it to a few earlier Fw 190), the Fw 190 Antons and Dora's are the same except for some minor electrical wiring and the weapons systems.

There are a couple of guys who do Fw 190 D kits, in that scale, ImpScale is one of them, as is SiSt.

If the wing is a true 1/5th scale. IMP kits are bigger and are not true 1/5. I would consider Holmans fw190D9 but this kit is 1/5th and the IMP is noticably larger. I have the IMP kit built and I'm working on another Holman. Is DPM, Dave platt models? if so, I'd consider the holman kits and not the IMP.

I have made a Ta 152C from Dave Platts 190A, it's much easier to convert it to a 190D9 or 13[img][/img]. Platts design is very close to scale. Just add a new nose, make an insert of 96mm in the fuselages joint, and make the rudder post longer back.

Ta152,

I think it would be very benificial if you would give more information on the how to process of converting the platt to that version and mabey some pics, specs and measurements. I'm sure many people, me being one of them, would greatly appreciate this information knowing the options for a full wood FW190D or TA152.

There is a bit more than that to make a scale Ta 152 from a Fw 190.

Sorry,I Talked about a 190D, not The Ta152.
On the Ta152C I also mowed the wing forward and enlarged the fin. I put a insert of 96mm in the centersection of the wing, så the span increased to 2115mm.
Just like Kurt Tank, I used a 190A to build the Ta152

Hi Ramstein. Here are some pics of the Ta152C and a video. It weights 9500g and are powered by a Laser200V with scale exhaust.

Nice.

The Ta 152C has always been a favourite of mine. Everyone has an H. No one does a C. Its funny that near the end of the war the Luftwaffe grounded the H's due to issues, but the C's were still flying but there is so little info out there on them...

What drawing did you use to get the scale outline for the C version. I currently have the Dave Anderson TA152H kit cut from Precision cut kits with Sierra retracts. I'm considering making it into the C. It won't be hard for this kit considering most of the work has been done.

Of course! Its a decent book. I have most of the books from that publisher too, covering the Bf 109 in all its forms (3 books), the Fw 190, the Dora and a few others. A LOT of great information, original flight data, engine data and everything else one could want.

Converting a H into a C isn't so hard. Just watch the nose bumps and reduce the wing span. Everything else is just detail work (for the most part).

I'm using original factory drawings for my Dave Anderson H to C conversion when I get the time to build it. I have some good friends that are doing custom retracts for the H's that I'm going to use.

I didn't think it would be to complicated. Like you, I have too much on my plate right not with three builds going on. All FW190 D9's. I don't plan on getting to this kit for years to come[&o] Evil, How about sliding me a copy of those drawings

Ramstein,

I hear ya, I got a Fokker D.VII (just gotta weld the damn N struts and cover it), a Ziroli Stuka (Ty's glass fuse with a built up wing, the left panel is done as is the center) and my Meister Fw 190 D9 right now as well as an Ar 96B.

Sure thing. Send me your email address offline (mine is in my profile I think), and I'll burn you a DVD with all my Fw 190 and Ta 152 goodies. I think I'm over 12 GB of data now.

My nightmare.... Well, my enjoyment also. From left to right.. Meister 190D, Holman 190D, IMP 190D, Topflite 190D X 2. All in the process of being built, and thats not including the kits in the box smiling at me.. Bit off more than I could chew... You could say that!
