Hey Boyd,

Will do my best to have it ready for next summer/fall.

Need to order more rivets from Chad for the wing and fuse.My kids got me a Bavarian Demon Cortex for Xmas last year but a couple of guys in the club found some for a lot less $$$. They have them in cubs and high wing planes that are ARFS.I did some searching on youtube but I still need to find out about the up and down position. After hours of work getting the canopy to line up I need to start on the wind screen, my friend has a vacuum table and he will make it for me once I get the plug made ☹

Larry,

Could I get you to pull 2 wind screen canopies for me also. Just let me know the cost.

Thanks.

Boyd.

Well alright - that T-28 is getting its "Glass House" together. That canopy requires a lot of cockpit work, no where to hide with all that glass. Great work Larry, my deadline is May. Got to fly the Avenger numerous times before going to the Nats with it. Stay well and Stay safe guys. Chic

Hey guys,
PROGRESS!!!!!!!! Fuse glassed, waiting for 2nd coat of resin to dry so I can start sanding... I know now about the corn starch but any recommendations as to grit and type?
If I can get my daughter to move her car out of the garage today I can get back to redoing the throttle and choke rods on the Avenger.
I'm thinking of redoing all the servo extensions since it looks like a rats nest where they plug into the receiver

Okay guys,
Slow progress, fuse primed and waiting for sanding with 400 grit sandpaper. Laid up balsa blocks to start working on plug for the windscreen, going to be a slow process

Okay guys,
Started the Windscreen Plug, needs a bit more sanding and have to add a bit to the bottom of the plug.
Hopefully will get to vacuum form it within the next 2 weeks

Hey Larry - Is this T-28 designed for instrument training only. The pilot can't see through that balsa block. Ha, Ha. Glad to continue seeing your progress. Painting the Avenger cockpits and turret opening today (Bronze Green, and Interior Green) inside the shop. Smile. Chic

Chic,
Need to make progress on the Trojan, I hear there is another build in my future
BTW, got the extension for the gyro and if I can convince the wife to get her car out of the garage today I might be able to work on it
Plan is to have the Avenger ready for March

Ok guys,
Started affixing Chads' rivets, it took me about 45 mins to do 1 side of one of the horizontal stabs.....
Maybe I should rethink this
Hoping to get 1 half of the vertical stab done today after I finish cleaning up the wiring on the Avenger and setting the throws on the flaps, should be ready for the new maiden in a few weeks after my company leaves

Looks Great Larry - however, the time to apply is waaaaaaaay tooooooo long. When I first started using Chad's rivets, it took me awhile to get the hang of it. Then I read his instructions. Did you rub the row of rivets down with alcohol first, then did you strip the metal piece away from the strip of rivets, then did you place the scotch tape down over the rivets, then did you take a popsicle stick or an eraser and rub the hell out of the tape sitting on top of the rivets, then pull the scotch tape back on itself -------- I did NOT do that. All but two or three rivets came off with the tape - when I followed his directions. Took me minutes to apply his rivets to the canopy. Lesson learned. Ha, Ha. But again, the stab looks great. Stay well guys. Chic

Chic,
Thanks for the reminder for the alcohol, only thing I didn't do. Laying down the port to starboard went quick, like 10 mins.
The fore to aft was the hang up getting the rivets in between those was where the hangup was.... working on the vert stab now and as soon as it warms up in the other garage I can finish cleaning up the wiring on the Avenger...
Just found a bit of trivia about the Carrier George Bush, it's nickname is The Avenger...who knew
Regards to Shirley

Larry,

Trust me Chads rivets will greatly reduce the time to apply them. I used a needle and syringe the first time. Took hours.

Boyd,
Am using Chads' rivets, after the first panel it went much quicker, now all I have to do is figure out how to get canopy glue in 5 gallon pails
Have the tops of the horiz stabs and both sides of the vertical stab done, will start on the bottoms later today
Got all the wiring as cleaned up as possible on the Avenger, the only thing left is to reset the throw on the 4 flaps and I'm good????? to go

Okay guys,
Here's the latest update.
Between work and trying to get the Avenger back in the air not too much progress but some
Plug for windscreen is almost done, had to add some blocks so the material wouldn't form around the bottom
Rivets done on fuse and panel lines drawn on wing
Started working on the dive brake while waiting for new servo arms for the Avenger, hoping to get dive brake done before leaving for New York

Hey Big Guy - Great seeing the progress. Really pleased to use Chad's rivets. Constantly learning how to apply those rivets. Will wait to hear from you when you get back from the Big Apple. Chic

Hey brother,
Thanks. Loved Chads rivets, gluing them not so much LOL
Just checked the 10day for Long Island, 50's at night 60's during the day, gonna freeze now that I've acclimated to being in the Oven for almost 3 years
Progress yes, not as fast as I would like, just too many things going on, Wife, Avenger, Work and Trojan but hoping to finish dive brake tomorrow.
Still love the craftsmanship you are putting into the Avenger
