Boyd,
I really learned alot from his series, but I'm a neophyte when it comes to scale modeling. He did have some helpful hints and for $95.00 for the 3 DVD's I thought the price was very fair.

Maser,

Where is your progress?? I know, who am I to be talking. Well give me a few more weeks and I will show you what I have been up to again. Warbirds Over Oklahoma is just the start of it now. As you would say, I have really gone and done it now.

Anyhow, back to T-28 information. Go by the museum www.oklahomamuseumofflying.org and check out this.

Now sitting on all three, and just a couple of more lines and she will have hydraulics on.

Sorry for the delay to post the pictures of the progress. The wing is 95% completed, with the exception of the belly conture to the fusalage. The pics show the hatch plates etc. I won't described them unless you want further comments.

The trailing edge of the wing are tapered to a paper thin edge. That makes them very susceptible to damage. Does anyone have a system to make them stronger?

What I do is sandwich a strip of 1/64 or 1/32 plywood between the top and bottom sheets and then sand them down to a thin edge.

I usually go with a 1/4 ". All of my models are 1/6th scale or larger.

Hey Maser,
Excellent work, according to Daves build dvds and Charlie Kellogg they use g-10 material, if you go to Bob Violets BVM Jets site he sells the material under a diffrent name. Thanks again for the excellent pix and descriptions, it will help as soon as I find a cosigner to get a loan from the wife so I can finally get my kit and retracts

Larry,

Thanks for the tip. I need to order the canopy rails for the fusalage, but other than that, I will get started on the fusalage in the next week or so. I have diverted my attention to getting my "other" models ready to fly for the season.

Boyd,
No problem, here you about getting the planes ready for the field. I just finsihed repairing my Axe CP mini copter to fly in front of the house, wind was gusting to 30 today, tomorrow they are talking 15 - 20... and in the high 60's low 70's, and since we fly 100' from the water it really isn't great flying weather but we will see.
I think I'm ordering the gear for the Trojan this week since I just let the wife go crazy at the store... I just have to make sure the notary signs the loan paper for the co-signer..LMAO

Talk soon, keep up the great work

Larry,

Hurry up. Tell your wife Ineed you to get started so that you can give me some tips on the fusalage.

I figured out how I'll do the main gear doors. Instead of a three piece system I'll make mine a two piece system. I got the Idea from a Monogram 1/48th scale model ot the T-28.

I got some glue called "Hysol" made by locke tight. (Is that how you spell it?) This is the same glue usded by the aircraft industry. Anyway, it seems to hold the wood block to the main spare so that you can put the main spare gear doors on it. I have never heard the name of the glue you used on the avenger.

Good luck.

Boyd.

Boyd,
I've been telling her. BTW, I was watching the Military Channel today, they were doing a story on the TBF Avenger, and they were speaking to a guy who owns one, lo and behold in the background was a fully restored Trojan I couldn't belive my eyes.
As for the fuselage, build it with the full fomers using 2" x 4"s to hold the main crutch, we did it this way on the Avneger and it worked great. Double check the measurments to the plans as you spot tack the formers to the crutch.... you will be pleasantly surprised.

Talk soon

Maser,

This is your conscious speaking. Yes you can, yes you can, but I dare you to try a soft field take-off with it. Remember, this is you conscious speaking.

Ok Guys.  Don't give up on me.  I've been busy flying this summer.  Hope to be back in the business by October or sooner.

Did you say flying or crashing, well it takes one to accomplish the other

Speaking of, are we doing either this weekend?

Boyd,
Glad to hear that it is the flying that has kept you off the thread. Now that all my leagal and monetary troubles are hopefully behind me, I have filled out loan papers with the wife so I can finally order the kit and landing gear. She has told me as soon as she figures out an exhorbitantinterest rate to charge me she will be more than happy to send off both checks. I am hoping to be able to start mine in Dec. or Jan.
FYI, I am going to the PIMA Museum in Tucson next month and if anyone needs any photos for their builds let me know and if the plane is there I will be happy to take some shots for you.

Safe Flying

Hello guys

My name is Ole Chr. and I'm from Norway. I'm following this thread with great interrest since I last week bought myself a kit from a guy here in Norway. It had the Dave Platt plans, Belair kit, Daves retracts, cowling and windsheeld. I'm pretty new building scale planes but I'm looking forward to start it. Then this thread and Dave's site will give me great hints. Looking forward to follow you all.

Best regards from Norway

Ole Chr.
