sorry for the multiple posts, apparently I can't edit my old posts anymore.
The Russians developed some impressive multi row radial engines, but I don't think they were ever intended for use in aircraft, they were diesel and watercooled, and used in patrol boats. Nordberg also specalized in very large radial engines, but they were also diesel and never intended for use in aircraft.

The Sabre didn't really hit its levels of performance until the supercharger was added...
Ernie, I said, "aircraft related piston engine developed"... doesn't mean it couldn't have been put into something else, but it started in an airplane...
No, its not desiel... and its not British.

How about the Merlin/Packards (built by Packard under license), originally developed for aircraft, that were used in our PT Boats?

Wow DVS1 gets it! The VD-4K before the compound turbo was added put out nearly 3700 HP... thats more than anything else out there.
Add the compound turbos and the VD-4K produced FOURTY THREE HUNDRED HP. (the Napier Sabre 5500 HP motor was not production).
Only 23 of the VD-4K's were built however...

you got it Jonny, the HO-229 was the first plane to implement stealth technology by the flying wing design, it was able to reduce radar cross section, as well as being made of wood and the paint they used were able to absorb radar vs reflect it.
