Has anyone used a DA50 in a ziroli stuka? How much did the plane weigh? How well did it fly? Was it barely adequate? good ? plenty of power?Comments please.

Depends on your style of flying. I flew my friends that was about 28/ 29 lbs on a G62 , not blazing fast but moved along at a pretty good clip. Rolls were slow , lost altitude quick, had to dive into a loop in order to get over the top. Most people use the G62 for this plane. Now I don`t think a DA has much more power than a G62 , if it does at all. We use a 24x8 prop that match the Stuka well. I think a broken in Da 50 with a 23x8 or 23x10 would give pretty good performance.

the DA50 has been around for at least a year or two, maybe longer. I think the DA85 is newer.I would like to use the DA85 just to make sure the plane isnt underpowered, but I dont think it will completly cowl in and that is important to me at least.

The 50 would be enough power, but as I stated depends on your flying style, meaning if you want to be turning and burning or you fly the plane the way it should be flown. There are folks that put G38s in the Stuka and was happy the way it flew. With a G38 you have to fly it on the wing, makes a good pilot.

Yes, the G-38 would be a lot less powerful then the DA-50, and I would think that with it's side mounted Carb, would be too wide to cowl in. Whereas, the DA-50 with it's rear mounted Carb, is not a problem.

Some videos so you can see how well it flies slow. No need to worry about not having enough power with the 50.
