YS 110 - What Size Warbird?
I'm in the "I have an inkling" phase ...
I have a YS110 in inventory. I'm playing with the idea of a WWIIWarbird and am wondering what size(s) of planes would be well suited for this engine. Yea, Iknow, cart squarely in front of the horse. And Ilike rear wheel drive cars too.
Oh yea, kits are the ONLYway to go.
TIA,

Manfred - Looks sweet (yea, I know, that's something my kid says ...). This size works for me as I'm sticking with 40 - 60 size planes - fit nicely in the back of the Volvo station wagon ...
Edited ... How's cooling? I'm about 5500 feet higher than you ...

A ys110 will swing a 16" prop with authority. Not sure how you get prop clearance on a 40-60 size warbird. I find it to be a good power source for 70-72" ws warbird. I see that you want to build a kit only. I'm having trouble seeing the value of taking the time to build an airframe that small when you have so many ARF choices in that size, vs putting that time investment into building a GS warbird where the choices are much more limited. Just my 2 cents...

While doing my research I'm beginning to understand from "whence you come". I'm still sniffing out the pack - kinda feel like the Dog Whisperer with a new pack of "kits" to understand. Ain't this hobby great!
Thanks for your input.

RE: YS 110 - What Size Warbird?
Go to this web site and find a few short kits from Bob Holman..He has a few WW2 birds you can pick from, the right size for that YS. Better than a 40 - 60 size plane. It makes no sense to stick such a powerful engine in a 40 size airframe when it will be much better in a 120 size warbird. Trust me you build it right a 120 size warbird would be no slow poke with a YS 110.
