RE: Large scale Luftwaffe/Axis forum..

Casey,
I just put a DLE-55RA on my 190 for its new owner. It required 10lbs of lead 3" infront of the firewall to get it balanced! Removing the retractabel tailwheel would probabl eliminate 2lbs of nose weight.

If the nose weight would of been moved aft 6", the needed nose weight would of doubled!

...... My lone FW 190 D9 needs some support.
Ummmmm......

You forget MY fw-190 D9? or my two esm me-109e's, or my me-110, or my Komet, my 190a8......etc, etc

BTW...I assume Ram that the thread is now open to all ''AXIS'' planes, that includes these?

The problem is you are never in the air when I am having to deal with all those pesky P47's! Or those short electric flight times leave me on my own. :P
Lol...the D9 can fly for 8 mins and often times, your messin with your gas engine and cant get it started for some reason and I have to defend the Reich on my own. By the time you get the motor started, Im already half out of ''fuel''.

However, Im hoping the Do-335 will be able to fly a little longer then the D9 with larger batteries. Plus...the BH stuka is wet powered, just need to get it maidened....and the 70'' ESM fw-190A is wet powered also.

The hangar 9 me-109 should be able to fly for 10mins even on electric.
Regardless, it is gonna be a rough year for the allies at Love-air! With the TA 152, hopefully a new Stuka, a new DR1 triplane, and all of the weapons you are stockpiling. Should be fun.

Bob,
Yep, 10lbs! The radial weights twice that of the dle, and even it required 5lbs of lead. That said, the dle55rs could be completely enclosed within the cowling (minus the plug cap and exhaust stacks) with some proper baffeling and cooling fin modifications. When i get around to building one of jose' TA152's, ill be using the RA. But that may be awhile since ive got to build the airframe for these:

Wanted to alert some of you guys to some pre-painted pilot busts for those that dont want to do a full cockpit. They cost almost nothing....$12.

1/4 - 1/5 size luftwaffe
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s..._x_H115mm.html

1/5 - 1/6 size usable for any
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s..._x_H107mm.html

That pilot looks pretty good. Kind of an Aces of Iron Rip off. Chinese are good at that I guess.

Lol....yup. And with Mike building the gs TF 190(even though as your hated electric).....there will be another Sith to take to the skies to shoot down all the infidels :)

I have a 60 size kit built me-109 with an os 120 in it....Im thinking of just giving it to Fred to get yet another AXIS apprentice :)

Yea ill post it. Ive already got guys asking me for one, as i plan to mold the fuselage as a single seater, but also do the 2nd seat bulge as well. Vertical stabs will be molded into the fuse.

It will be based off the Don Smith plans, so everything else (wing/stabs) will be built from his plans. I am hoping to come up with a driveshaft that will be useable with the DA/DLE 55 engines for the rear prop.

Nice thread

I have pictures of my two Fw-190's

The first is a Meister, now 11 years old, came to me in a round-about way. Jeff Quisenberry (whom I did not know then), framed it up, sold it to a friend of mine who did nothing with it for two years, then traded it to me for a used, but very nice, custom racing bicycle.

I finished it and painted it and fit it with all the goodies, including a BME-62 twin engine (no, they don't make them anymore).

It's still going strong, a few dings and upgrades along the way, including Sierra gear and 2.4 radio. Pictures 3 and 4 show it flying 3 months ago

Not nearly as sexy as my AirWorld 190. Paint job by wulf and his friend Chuck. Cadillac of a Flyer, but the sexy Moki radial was crankier than I am smart and after several dead-stick struggles I lost it over the thicket in Owatonna two summers ago.

Flight characteristics of both are great. I'm sure there's another one in my future. Not with a Moki, though!

It's been a very trying day but I finally have the rivets on the wing:D I have a few more details which I've ordered and then this beast will be ready for paint. Now I can get back on the Platt while I wait.

I ordered two packs of 11400 rivets which includes 6 sheets of 1900. I have two sheets left..

Looks like an excellent museum. Do they have any Axis planes?

Nice, I've always admired you bird from the magazines but never knew which kit it was from the pictures and the little details they gave. Can you tell me HOW you kept a 102 inch FW190 at 30 lbs?

Ramstein44, It can be done, keep the tail light,I used contest balsa in the rear and no retract tail wheel,I made a fiberglass piese for the turtle deck and front of the vert. fin to get rid of the balsa blocks,I have built three meister 190s this way and they all were in 30lb.range.
