Judging from the photos in the assembly manual, it appears to be sheeted. The aileron and flap servos are attached to plywood access panels in the wing panels.

The aircraft is fully sheeted so should be easy job to glass and paint.

That was what I was after. It has nice lines just want to get away from plastic covering. Glass and paint is not a big job and looks so much nicer.

If glassing and painting is not a big job, want to do mine for me:D? I would have no idea where to start, much less having turn out looking good [sm=drowning.gif]. I can just imagine how much time it would take to remove the factory covering job and then fill what the factory covered over.

That's one of the nice things about Ultracoat, it can be removed pretty easy with a heat gun. Does not leave all the residue behind like Monokote.

I have stripped almost every arf I have ever purchased just for a different look. My last one was a H9 46% Ultimate. Takes about 45minutes to get the covering off. It is sanding the paint down ready for new paint and getting it back on that takes a long time. Steelwooling sounds like a good idea. I might just have to get two of these babies :D

Does anyone know what the wheel diameter is? They look too small in the picture and a little goofy in my opinion. Other than this, the plane looks great.

I don't know if you could add larger wheels as the wheel wells in the wing are probably already sized for the current wheels.

Guys, any input on the fuse hatch ? Any ideas on making it more concealed if one were to

get rid of the ultracote and fiberglass the fuse? A full cockpit would also be great. I would scrap

the mech. retracts in favor of pneumatics. This will be a fun very close to scale bird that could use

alot of detail work to make it more realistic. And much cheaper to start out with than say yellow, aerotech,

or a full plan kit. Much more quality minded than say KMP or CMP any of those. Also i would throw in a

retract tailwheel and doors. This arf would save some time of building say over a top flite also. We will

all just have to see how it flies. Definitely go with gasser here, saito 180 is hard to run inverted. I have one

on my great planes ryan sta. Do u think the g-26 will fit without cutting the cowl? God i have tons of questions.

I have wanted a nice p-47 larger scale razorback for a while now, but dont want to spend thousands.

Monokote (iron on film in general) can be painted guys, I've done it several times, so stripping and glassing is not 100% necessary for a custom scheme. BTW I think a G-26 would be way too small for this plane IMO.. Fuji has that new 43cc or a newer evolotion gasser that would probally be pretty close to what this plane needs for gas, but I would probally do Moki 210 just cause I'm a glow kind of guy.

I honestly like the markings they used. I like the whole damn plane. I would also use a Moki 2.10. There is no motor like it on the market. One flip backwards and you have 5 hp waiting to be used! I love them and wouldnt even think about another motor for this ship.

I have also had great experience with painting ultracoat. I scotchbright it first to give it teeth and then the paint sticks like glue and looks great. Now, on the subject of paint scemes,..... didnt the Germans use a few captured ones to train their pilots.....? hummmmm.....

Just fine, I had one in my worldmodels Giant mustang mounted inverted. only thing is that it was kind of hard to hand start inverted, but I then just started the plane up-side down on a stand and it started on the first flip everytime.

Nice,

At 1/6 scale, the main wheels should be at least 5.5" (34" on real bird)

Scale control throws are:

Ailerons: 16 up , 12 down (80% dual rate should give scale roll rate)
Elevators: 30 up, 20 down
Rudder: 28 R and L

Their recommended CG of 6 1/8" corresponds to about 32% MAC, which explains the reduced elevator throws. Personally, I would start at 5 1/8" (25%) and use a scale setup. Maybe they moved it back to help with noseovers caused by small wheels! :D I hope you get what you pay for! :D

Looks like a G45 with a B&B muffler will be nice for this airplane.

Saito 180 would be a perfect. A G45 is going to be way to large and heavy. The weight is only 15-17 lbs. Not as heavy as some of the others out there this same size. I am thinking maybe the new Evo 26 Gasser in mine. Will know shortly.

Just downloaded the manual, I've never saw a retract system like this. Has anyone else? I have the kit on order from a local shop can't wait to get it. Do to the light wing loading this should be a great way to enter the World of WarBirds. I've been into gas for awhile and have a Quadra Q35 so I'm going to try to install it. Can't wait!!!

I'm wondering if the H9 Folks will be reintroducing the aborted/discontinued ARF 1.50 P-51 to include the Retract improvements and larger size, etc. such as this one offers?

I have the T/F P-51, and a good friend that I fly with has the H-9 Mustang. He sure wishes he had the T/F.:D
I think H-9 may have hit a home-run with this P-47. It sure has a lot of cool features like the plug in wings and stab. T/F will be way behind on this one. H-9 actually learned from the 1.50 P-51 escapade.
i am little concerned about the power recomendation though. I have flown a few Warbirds and i really think it will be marginal at best with a G-26. The Saito 2.00 may work well though as that is quite a bit more power than a G-26.
