gears: pitch and mod explained.
I just read this info in my RC car action mag and thought id post it to help others!
many of the redcat models dont use the common 48pitch gears that are found on most offroad RC's.
the correct term for metric gears, which most of redcat's have, is module or mod.
most metric or mod are not interchangable with standard pitch, with the exception of 0.8 mod and standard 32 pitch.
the area that will confuse some, be that some metrics are reffered to by a pitch #
Metric VS. Standard
1.0 module-refered to as metric 32 is actually a standard 25.4 pitch.
0.8 module, as stated above is the same as 32 standard pitch
0.6 module-referred to as metric 48 pitch is actually a standard 42.3 pitch
0.4 module-referred to as metric 64 is actually standard 63.5
so, when looking to buy a pinion gear for your redcat, you can search for the module(or mod) or the metric pitch that your vehicle uses. Just dont confuse the metric # with the standard #.
i was able to call my LHS and ask for a 48 metric pitch pinion. they had one in stock!
The 1, 0.8 and 0.6 mods are found on redcats.
the above info should help any who want to try different gearing options buy the right pinion gear for their model.

to add the the above....
the caldera, epx, epx pros all use a 0.6 or metric 48 pitch.
the used to come with a 0.8 or standard 32 pitch. you can buy the pinion and spur in the 0.8 and put it on your model if you wanted to as redcat still stocks those gears.

RE: gears: pitch and mod explained.
my twister comes with a 32 pitch i think......it has a bigger hole to put the motor into and it doesn't bind with the 48 pitch spur on my bandit.

the twister's also have a 5mm shaft. most 2wd's have motors with 3mm shafts.
