Default Newbie with a Volcano EPX Pro problem...

First off, I am totally new to the hobby. After opening my Volcano, i took the battery out and charged it for approximately 3-4 hours...(i noticed it said to charge 6-8 but i couldnt wait). When I installed the battery and attempted to run the truck i have no communication between my radio and receiver it seems. I have followed the instructions (or at least I think I have) but I still cant get the wheels to turn or any response from the acceleration. When I power on the truck itself the wheels stay turned to the right. What am I doing wrong? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Which volcano do you have? Because if you have the Volcano EPX standard then it comes with a 27Mhz Am radio in which case your transmitter or receiver could be bad.
