I've been running this truck a few months on 2s Lipos, with only minor repairs and tweaks. So far so good. I've picked up spare gears / dogbones / shock / and cups to try and be prepared for minor things.
After last run, I'm seeing the front wheels spinning like crazy and the rear wheels not doing so much. You can really notice this in the grass, the front wheels spin and the truck doesn't really go anywhere.
Looks like the front wheels are doing all the work essentially. The front and back do not spin independently, and that is still working, but I'm guessing it may be gears in the rear diff ??
I checked the gear mesh and that seems ok. Not really sure what else I could test, any ideas ??
If it is the rear differential, are there any better ones to replace it with ?
Thanks !!!

check the drive cup at the rear of the trans/center diff. The grub screw loosens up and then the trans just spins thru the rear drive cup where the dogbone goes from the trans to rear diff.

second that, check the drive cups 1st.
if they are good, then it could be the rear diff. but usually, if a diff has gone bad, you can hear it. clicking or grinding sounds.
check the rear tires....make sure the hex's and drive pins are there. even if only 1 tire was missing the drive pin....or the wheel hex was stripped...the diff would "unload" to that wheel and the power wouldnt make it to the ground.
there is a hardened steel diff unit. redcat is currently out of stock on them, but you may be able to find them in stock else where.
part # BS803-025A
also, i do recommend replacing the gear case as well. you can buy the gears themselves seperatly, but since the case is plastic and the screws that hold them together can get loose, its best to replace the case at the same time. the case is important, since it holds the ball bearings in place. if those have any play, then the gear's mesh will have play and your new gears wont last long.
