Default Shockwave upgrade questions

Recently bought one of these little beasts and its been though alot. TIme for upgrades i think.

my buddy has a .18 motor i want to put on it. ive also wondered about 2 speed trannys, is it worth it? and what else do i have to buy with it?
what are some esential upgrades?

i dont know anything about upgrading anything. never had anything with a 2 speed tranny. dont even know how it works.

The .18 will give you some more power but I'm not sure it would be cost effective.  For what it will cost for the new engine, I'm not sure you'd be getting that "bang for the buck".  Now if you had to replace your engine due to it being blown and were going to spend money on a replacement, then yes.. I would replace it with the .18.  As far as the two speed goes, there's many opinions about it.  I removed the two speed from my Tornado because I felt 2nd gear was too high.  It would scream in 1st but lag in 2nd due to the low rpm's of the 2nd gear.  Also to really get the speed out of 2nd gear you need a runway.  For me running around backyards and neighborhood streets, it runs better as a single speed.

i wouldn't put the 2 speed in, its a waste of money i locked out the seccond gear in my two speed tranny<div>

well my friend is giving me the .18 motor,
its off a volcano sv that was long ago totaled.
im just looking for more get up and go. more top speed would be nice but i want more snap when i hit the throttle.
thats why im buying a caldera....pure acceleration lol

Well if that's the case, then I would say why not. For free it will certainly be worth the time.

You shouldn't have a problem, I think the diffs are the same as the Tornado with the bigger engine.
