Default Is the Earthquake Nitro really that bad?

After spending a good amount of my childhood with electric rc cars, I am looking to get into Nitro. I have had a Redcat Tornado EPX for years now and love the thing, never an issue. I RCR still made the tornado in nitro, I'd scoop it up in a second. Since they don't, I am left looking at other brands if I don't want their Earthquake.

Looking for a truck or truggy to buzz around with, I know many people don't like redcat. Another post in this forum tells a bad experience with the Earthquake Nitro truck from RCR. My question is, is the Earthquake really that bad? I understand RCR is not primo stuff, but was this one of a thousand that comes with issues? Anyone else have input on the Earthquake or have recommendations for a substitute?
