where is the cluch spring? it might have been broken someone told me and I wanted to check and see if it really is... sorry for my ignorance

If you look at the engine you wull see the two gears for the two speed trans in fron of the air cleaner. That is the clutch housing. There should be a clip or something holding that on. The spring will be in there. I can't give you more info my car or parts sheet is no with me.

can i buy just the spring or do i need to buy the whole thing?

I'm not sure , I heard of people going to there local hobby shop and using on from another brand. If you did that you would need to take you clutch parts up there and match one up. Try this dealer , I've heard he has really good service
