Yeah and also the onroad cars just don't take as much punishment as some of the buggys and trucks do. That's probalby part of the reason why they do hold up well.

I put the vx .18 and could not control the little thing without the shell.

The wing makes a big difference.

20 tanks would be about norm for any car to start showing if not stripping spur gears. My Volcano stripped gears after about 20 tanks of fuel.

thats why i said (20 tanks would be about norm for any car to start showing) note the word car!! . spur gears wear on any car, truck etc, its always a good idea to have extras just in case. The pinging is probably the clutch bell loosening up, bad bearing, sounds like a ting ting ting type of noise. The redcats seem to have that sound after some use.

i have a lightning vx its pretty quick i killed the 44 th throttle gear though and im waiting on the new 1 the tires wear thin fast on them and make sure theyre glued on good 1 my right rear wasnt and it flew off the rim. i bought a couple extra gears and some m4 grub screws because they fell out of the rear universal joint so check all your screws also the crystals for the servo were two different so if the cars not responsive thats why

well im about 50 tanks and i fixed all the problems new trainy cluch bell pinging stoped, now the diffy(front) hsd gone out lol Tires and glueing sucks, but im manageing i use 10% nitro fuel i find that the car runs very well on it, you can run 20% but i find that it studders and accelaration is not as good(fully tuned) i am upgrade to futaba controler servos and recever alum uper chassy and a traxxus 2.5 and alum wheels, i will ive you all a update with some puctures when i am starting work on it ! chow

Why bother with a Traxxas 2.5 when you can be the first to try to swap our .27 into a Lightning

BTW-run 20%, but you ALWAYS have to re-tune your engine when you switch fuels. If you get it tuned right you'll soil yourself at how fast it is if you think it's quick NOW on 10%

Actually you can get an electric starter for any of our engines

you can find our .27 at www.redcatracing.com, and go to Redcat Rides, and go to Hurricane XP, and scroll through the parts.

the thing is though...it will NOT be a bolt-in affair, there would be a lot of work going into it. the other side of it is, though, that you'd have a car nobody else had

you could get a traxxas 3.3 for $50 less that the redcat .27 or the os .18 for over $100 less than that .27 engine.

Very true...But, as anybody that has talked to me in any other forum knows, I detest the 2.5, LOL.

the .18CVR is a great engine.

the .18CVR, as long as you get the long shaft version, is a direct bolt-in, but you will need a new air cleaner, and you WILL want to upgrade the exhaust system to let the big beast breathe
