Hardening Clutch Pinions
I was reading through the older posts here, and I see there are some problems with the teeth on the clutch bells wearing out.
Has anyone tried a simple flame hardening on them? You could blast them in an oxy-acetalene torch and quench them.
Probably take someone a few attempts but from an engineers viewpoint there's no reason it couldn't be done.

They're Aluminium. That could make things tricky. Just my observation though. You just might know something I don't know. It does happen every once in awhile.[sm=shades_smile.gif]

RE: Hardening Clutch Pinions
You can still harden aluminium using heating and quenching. If anyone knows exactly what grade they're made of I can give you a detailed breakdown of exactly how to do it at home.
Other option is to electroplate them with nickel. You can leave them in an over overnight to harden it to chromium levels.
