Default First problem with stalling.

Car was running grear. Tearing up the grass at the park next to my house. A nice trail of smoke behind it letting me know it was running on the rich side. Then all of a sudden it stalled. I brought it over and it was hot and a bit of smoke coming from the tail pipe. But didnt seem unusally hot. I waited a second and tried to start it, it started for a second then stopped. So I thought, maybe it's the glow plug. When I got back I tried the glow plug, and no glow. Tried a new glow plug, no glow. So I charged the glow plug starter then bam, it works. So now when I try to run the car, it turns on and runs and when I pull off the glow plug starter it dies within a couple of seconds. Sometimes it will go a minute then die. I backed off the richness thinking maybe it was being flooded (although it was running fine before), and I whent down to 2 1/2 (same results but took a little longer), 2 turns (same results but only a little longer than before). 2 turns seems like Im getting to lean from what I would think.

Any ideas? Ive tried two seperate glow plugs. And both of them glow now that the charger has been charged.

You may need to lean out your low speed needle. How is it accelerating? The low speed needle should be about flush during break in but you should start leaning (turn the needle in) it in after that.

Another thing you may want to check is that your fuel system is airtight. It sounds like it may just be starting at first because there's still fuel in the line, but while running it can't suck up enough gas to keep the car running. Just a few things you may want to check out.

There isn't really any acceleration because as soon as I remove the glow plug charger it dies. If I keep it on, and lift it and apply gas it screams and sounds strong and smoother. I think I might know what I did to start this, but I have no idea how to fix it. Check out my review thread in this forum, and if you got any idea's I'd love to hear it. Because I'm very preplexed at the moment.

Can anyone tell me if my Tornado xl is running correctly? It starts good, idles good, but will stall if I throttle all the way. It seems to run pretty fast just will die if I go all in? Does that sound normal?

If the spring on the clutch shoes is broken it can stall the engine. Try checking it out.

The spring is traxxas 4146x or just 4146. I have it in my buggy no problems wiht it breaking, just can't keep the fly wheel from spinning off wiht the clutch bell.

I Have a Volcano SV w/Taiwan 1.8 and it keeps stalling on me when I hit half throttle( runs great before that). I've changed the glow plug, checked the fuel line and needle valve for obstructions, had to replace the exhaust gasket as it fell apart. I've tried richening and leaning out the needle valve with the same results, stalling around half throttle, I was going to mess with the Low speed but wasnt sure where to go with it. I have 5 tanks through it at low speeds on break-in.
