never mind about the rotostart,i decided to go with the sullivan tigerdrive, now i just need to know if i need the sullivan wand or maybe a long 7/32 hex from hardware store because i only plan to use a powerdrill, the starters are so expensive??

I think they are much the same but I have been told that rotostarts are built better. But who knows? Its a matter of personal choice in the end. I think in both occasions you can use a drill with the wand. Just becareful with the power of the your drill though.

i had no problems with my hpi rotostart, i just didnt like the fact you need a battery all the time to start your car, i took them off all but one of my cars, i just forget to pick up a pullstart.

I just picked up 2 of the HPI backplates for mine and a buddie's Tornado. We always have our cordless drills so decided to forego the roto starter. Couldn't justify the added expense for 2 newbies with broken pull starts. With that being said does anyone know if 7/32 is the correct size hex for the HPI backplate? I was going to pick up one next week so my car would be ready to run when our parts arrived.

Also, we use 19.6 volt craftsman drills. Any tips on settings for the drill that wouldbe similar to a rotostart? We have a high and a low gear with 18 individual speed settings.

get the wand instead of a hex the wand supposedly spins faster and is longer so you dont get in a bind trying to start the car i know the tigerdrive is 7/32 but im not sure about the hpi

the rotostart is not a hex drive on the hpi's you would need a long regular flat bit, i would suggest leaving the drill set up for high speed so the motor is turned over faster.
