Default question for allaboutfunhobbies

Wade, does sts make a .15 or .18? do they make a .12 with a pullstart?

No they don't make a .15 or .18 there considered OEM basher motors and they only make race engines so they won't be making any .15 or .18 engines at the moment. They do not make any pull start or roto starts for the .12 engines they are race engines and pull starts and roto starts pull down the racing RPMs and steal torque away from the engine there opinion is that if you want a .12 with a pull start or roto start buy an O.S. or some other engine, lol. That's preaty much what they have to say about it in a nut shell, lol.

yes that is true, but on an engine the size of the Monster 28 or Monster 30 it really won't matter too much, but most racers I believe replace the roto or pull start with a bump start back plate. As far as the .15 or .18 people have egging at them to build a .15 or .18 for a while, BUT they say it's not cost effective to build one since there's no race catagolries for them, because of there OEM basher status, I guess. I wish they would I would snatch 6 or seven of them up, I'm still waiting for my VX.18 to blow so I can replace it with a STS .12

No question about it. The off road engine has a ton of torque enough to pick the front end up on a buggy and the on road engine is an RPM high rev engine. I still haven't dialed in my 30, removed the last head gasket and up the nitro to 33%, I'm fixin to do that this weekend it ought to scream after that and it's screaming now.

Those are both on road engine and the D5R would probablly be a better choose if you want the extra power from the 5 port engine.

It's an RPM motor so it produces all it's power in the high range for the long straight aways in on road racing but I'm betting it will light them on an on-road car.

It's a good engine for the kind of thing you want to do, like going out and playing and still having the race engine power that STS offers, In my opinion I think it's more there for everyone engine, that will work for either off road or on road. The only thing I discovered tonight is that the stock fly wheel won't work, I have some three shoe clutch flywheels that will be needed for these engines. Also I am working on a mod tomorrow to convert from roto carb to slide carb.

I agree, they seem to idle better, run smoother and just all around seem to operate smoother than a rotory carb.
