Default Roto Start problems

I just purchased a HPI roto start backplate for my SH .18 to replace the pullstart, but the problem is there is no way it will fit on my engine. First of all the gear that goes on the nut shaft is too large, and the backplate itself is much larger than my pull start and engine backplate. I got the roto start which is supposed to fit on .12- .15 nitrostar engines, but its a no go on my SH. Which roto start will work on this engine?

If your hobby shop has a few different ones you may want to take teh motor to them and match one up. I think the HPi 18ss backplate will fit.

Are you pulling it out too far. You dont need to pull out very far. Maybe a foot or so in short quick pulls. Is the motor broke in yet? If not you can preheat the motor and that would make it easier to start.

ive run about 2 quarts of nitro in this motor already, and ive had many problems starting it which caused it to flood many times, hence the snapping pull starts

you need to lean the needles, your loading up with too much fuel, your pullstart should last a while.
