GLOW PLUG FUNCTION
does the glow plug serve only 1 function ?, to only fire the engine up and thats it ? ( like a starter on a car)or does it continue to be in use while the motor is running?

It stays in use when the motor is running. That is what burns the fuel along with the compression. That is why they make different heat ranges so it will burn differently while you are running and to tune it to you preferences.
